Welcome to this week’s #MySundaySnapshot post, which is part of a snap-sharing-blog-linky series that you are very welcome to join. Click here for further information and guidelines upon this linky should you wish to take part.
It’s been a challenging week in this household as our poor little lady went down with a horrid gastro bug and just as she was demonstrating her pyrotechnics with the sick bucket our beloved basset collapsed and began shaking on the carpet. I wasn’t sure who to tend to first as it seemed that everything was all going on at once. Thankfully my husband came home from work, he then took Maisy to the emergency vet whilst J scooted out to the local Tesco for Calpol, bleach, and handsoap (all of which had been on the shopping list like I’d somehow planned the event and we settled ourselves in for a bumpy few days.
Never before have I heard of an animal collapsing and mimicking sickness in empathy to a child but according to the vet, this is precisely what took place. Maisy was given an anti-nausea jab and spent the following two days sedated on Metacalm to recuperate. Meanwhile, E was completely wiped out by what I can only describe as one of the nastiest stomach bugs I have ever witnessed. Paul then began shivering, sweating, and suffering with horrid headaches and a high temperature leaving just J and I holding onto hope that we would somehow steer clear of the dreaded germs.
Though I’ve had a bit of a temp and some rather nauseous moments, J and I seem to have avoided the bug so far and thank the Lord; E, Paul and the dog all seem to have recovered- What a week! I really hope that we can now move forward and make the most of the final fortnight before the summer term ends and the holidays are officially here.

When we went to Koh Samui the bug moved thru the family and the inevitable happen with me catching it aftera few days of cleaning up everyone’s vomit (as i said to the hotel maid “You aren’t paid enough to do this” (as she tried to insist on doing the clean up). So I feel your pain watching the bug inch towards you….Hope everyone recovers quickly. Amazing about the dog. How much she must love you all! (And the bug in Koh Samui was picked up in Sydney or on the plane as the first kiddo started to vomit upon check in to the hotel….)
Oh my goodness! What an awful few days for you all. I’m glad everyone is feeling better now.
That sounds very nasty, I hope you are all over it now
I’m glad that the sickness bug is leaving the house. Good riddance to it. We’ve had illness in our home too this week but I’m hoping we are coming through the other side too.
What a horrendous week! I hope you are all on the mend now. And what a beautiful photo!
Chaos week! Glad everyone’s recovering Hope you get some peace before summer break!
