Welcome to this week’s #MySundaySnapshot post, which is part of a snap-sharing-blog-linky series that you are very welcome to join. Click here for further information and guidelines upon this linky should you wish to take part.
We’ve enjoyed a fair few sunshine days of late which has been a welcome break from the snow, hail, and sleet which we endured during the start of the Easter holidays. I’ve been told that we are to expect a heatwave over the next week or two which is typical as we are about to return to work, school, and our regular routine. That and the lockdown has added at least two inches to my waistline leaving me with very few summer clothes that I actually fit – I really ought to lose some weight but I lack the motivation at present.
According to my social media feed, people seem to be embracing the recent easing of the lockdown rules and as a result are enjoying days out and about at zoos, theme parks, adventure parks, and such-like. Not us though, we are choosing to stay safe and stay at home, at least until we’ve been vaccinated which I’m hoping won’t be too far away now.
It’s been two years since we last traveled abroad and I suspect it’ll be at least another two (or more) before we are able to do so safely – that’s a real shame for the kids as they are missing out on making memories and I find that deeply upsetting. Yeh sure, people are traveling around the UK having little holidays here and there but again – we haven’t even had our first vaccinations yet and the virus hasn’t gone anywhere as far as I’m concerned. I’d rather stick to enjoying ‘staycations’ despite the inevitable monotony and boredom.
So far I’ve stretched to enjoying a coffee with a friend and her daughter whilst wrapped up in blankets on the rattan furniture – even that felt slightly alien if I’m honest. Whilst the majority of people seem to be traveling around, enjoying days out and sitting outside drinking pints and acting as if the World is back to how it was – we on the other hand are sticking to strolls through the countryside, scoots around the local area, and games in the garden because it seems the safer option.
I worry that the kids are missing out on their childhood, they are growing up so fast and we’ve done very little over this past year other than spending time in and outside of our house trying to make the best of a bad situation. I’m stressing that upon their return to school their friends will be sharing stories of their grand days out and J & E may feel left out somehow. I guess it’s all about weighing up the risks and quite frankly I’m not willing to risk our health or our lives for a day out – it’s just not worth it!
On that note I’d best get dinner for the kids and tea for the dog sorted ready for our afternoon dog walk and obligatory burgers from the ‘van that can’, I guess the diet will just have to wait!

Beautiful photo. It’s hard to know what to do for the best, isn’t it? There’s definitely no right or wrong answer. We haven’t been vaccinated yet either, although my husband and I are now in the right age category.
It’s not easy knowing what to do for the best no…
Its been lovely weather this week. Typical that we are expecting a heatwave as they go back to school. I can not see us travelling abroad this year at all. Instead I have booked a couple of mini breaks in the UK
I haven’t even booked a mini break either – just sticking to the garden
