It’s been a nine-stop month for the kids with various activities both in and out of school.
E’s been busy researching rivers, painting pictures, practicing her maths, and photographing local landscapes as part of a project for the end of the summer term. She then received an awesome end-of-year school report and was awarded the book prize for her love of reading thus finishing year five with a fierce smile and a very proud set of parents.
J meanwhile blew our socks off as he completed breezed his Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award. He was first at the campsite and second back to school the following day. Poor J walked almost twenty miles whilst carrying a heavy expedition bag full of gear and he then spent his first night alone in a tent. Despite being completely exhausted he managed to make it back to school before the buses and without so much as a blister though I might add he was ever so slightly sunburnt!
To say I was worried would be a monumental understatement, I quite literally spent forty-eight hours plus pacing the floorboards wondering and worrying about how he was getting along – it felt like torture! I needn’t have worried however as he knocked it out of the park – he absolutely smashed it and I’m so blinking proud of him! J also received a shining school report and finished the school year with a smile firmly plastered on his face.
With school now done and dusted for the summer both J and E are relieved to ditch the routine and enjoy a well-earned rest and they really, truly deserve some downtime following all their amazing efforts.
