Welcome to this weeks edition of #LivingArrows from the madhouse or as I like to refer to it ‘home’.
Time as always is flying by and already we have reached mid-February. As you are probably well aware Cupid is on the loose as it’s Valentines Day tomorrow.
To celebrate I decided to get my children a little something to let them know how much we love them. I have of course also got something for my hubby but will share this tomorrow to avoid spoiling any surprises.
As a little girl I loved to play with dolls, there was of course Tiny Tears, the overgrown baby and Sindy who far outshone Barbie in my eyes. I however much preferred to play with smaller figures such as Sylvanian family characters and even better, Polly Pocket.
Polly Pocket was massively popular back in the day. Sadly due to being so small, Polly Pocket was deemed to be a safety hazard and later evolved into a larger and far less interesting product.
Thankfully my parents thought to keep hold of the Polly Pocket dolls which I collected and passed them onto me to share with my own children.
When E turned three-years old she too began to play with figures and as a special treat to keep her distracted whilst we dried her hair following bath time E was given my Polly Pocket sets to play with. These sets have remained in our bedroom and are used on a daily basis by E whilst we comb and style E’s her hair.
Knowing how much E loves my Polly Pockets I decided to buy her one of her own. It took some time to find a heart-shaped (because it’s Valentines Day), reasonably sized, complete set in good condition. Little did I know upon purchasing this set that it lit up!
E was over the moon to be given her very own Polly Pocket set, she has played with it none-stop since we gave it to her. It’s so lovely to see our daughter getting such pleasure from something which I once enjoyed a child myself.
Our Princess With Her Polly Pocket
Captain J Sparrow
J on the other hand was far easier to find a gift for. He has recently become rather taken with The Pirates Of The Caribbean and why not? I for one certainly do not mind soaking up a bit of Captain Jack Sparrow…
Anyhow, he’s watched the first three films as we had them on DVD in the cupboard along with the thousands of other Disney DVDs we have collected over the years.
I decided that whilst the fourth film was technically a ’15/G’ rating if we were to watch it with him, carefully monitoring the content and fast-forwarding anything untoward then he should be alright. It was fairly dark but he was absolutely fine and enjoying watching every moment of ‘On Stranger Tides’.
Here we are snuggled up on the sofa pulling our very own Pirate faces. As you probably know, the eyeliner is something I usually wear and hasn’t been added for effect.
Perfecting Pirate Poses
The kids seemed to really appreciate their gifts, they certainly weren’t expecting anything but I think this will be a tradition that I continue with throughout the years. Valentines is a time to spoil those that we love after all.
I hope that you and your family have a wonderful Valentines Day. Thanks again for reading and as always I look forward to catching up with your #LivingArrows either through your own posts or comments upon this post.
