Whilst on a personal level Christmas felt somewhat alien this year, the kids thankfully loved every moment of the day. They especially enjoyed the ‘big unwrap’ which I watched from the kitchen whilst multi-tasking between latticing bacon over a turkey breast and sealing a beef joint.
After decimating their piles of perfectly arranged parcels into bin bag fulls of ripped wrapping paper, the kids pulled their crackers and eagerly tucked into their Christmas dinner at the table. Though I’d usually spend hours writing lists, prepping, and stressing over timings for various dishes, this year I seemed to have everything sorted with next to no worries whatsoever.
We then spent the rest of the afternoon and evening snuggled on the sofa with family watching Christmas television whilst knocking back a few bevies. Whereas I’d usually spend Christmas day evening clearing and organising the living room into a livable state, this year I was quite happy to lounge around surrounded by the Christmas chaos.
Christmas may have felt completely different from a personal perspective. I have however been assured by both J and E that they had the best day thus I’m happy to report that Christmas was an apparent success.
Thank you for reading and as always, I look forward to catching up with your #LivingArrows either through your own posts or comments on this post.
