Christmas day sure flew by in a flash, the kids had the most amazing day and were spoilt rotten as were Paul and I. We spent this morning huddled around the tree opening parcels for well over an hour before meeting up with the in-laws to thank them for their gifts and to share some Christmas cuddles.
We then drove to my folks house where my Mother and I put together Christmas dinner whilst the kids played and the boys went out to the pub for a few pints. Dinner was delicious and although I eat far less these days I made sure to make some serious space for my Mothers home-made Christmas pudding and brandy sauce which as always was a hit.
We then sat together as a family opening the parcels whilst my Father and I played paparazzi with the Canon. I only wish I’d stolen a few shots from his camera before heading home to share with you this evening but as you can imagine it’s been a busy day and there was certainly no time for fiddling with technology, we were all far too busy getting rather merry and having heaps of fun.

Our Christmas Cracker
Following a rather rainy drive back I proceeded to make order of our living room which in all honesty was a complete waste of time. My living room looks much like Toys R Us after an earth quake at the higher end of the Richter scale. Having given up on the Christmas clearing I decided to sneak off for a bath where my daughter later joined me bringing oodles of bath toys along for the soak.
Having bathed and dried both of the kids we then read them a couple of stories and they were both out like a light, if only I could have said the same about last night! Ah well Christmas is now done and dusted at least.
I will no doubt spend the following fortnight cleaning, clearing and finding homes for all of the new gubbins which our children were spoilt rotten with. I’ve already made a start on putting together a pile of games and toys to hand down to my nephew whom should arrive tomorrow along with my brother and sister-in-law, that’ll be more reason for celebration therefore more wine to consume. Come New Year I think my liver may have packed its bags and left for its own safety!
It may have been exhausting, exasperating and overwhelming at points but that’s precisely what Christmas with kids is all about right? They each had the most the amazing day despite E being a little under the weather with her chest, they were both spoilt rotten and are now fast asleep for the night leaving me with time to tidy kick back and soak up some Christmas television, that and to no doubt consume further alcohol as it’s Christmas after all.
Merry Christmas folks, I hope that you and your family have had a fabulous day. Thanks for taking the time to read my #LivingArrows posts throughout the year, it’s a fantastic linky which I very much enjoy taking part in and will be sure to continue throughout 2018.
