I’m not sure how but I managed to make it through the day with what I suspect may well be a slipped disc. As you can imagine, I’m in a fair amount of pain but with the help of paracetamol, I pushed on through.
Despite my exhaustion, I continued with the daily chores of cleaning shoes, washing out lunch boxes, sorting school bags and getting the house into order before the hubby came home.
Somewhere between vacuuming the living room and intending to put the white load on, I sat down for a moment and just like that – I was flat out! The kids bless them covered me in a blanket and sat by me to watch Robot Wars as I kicked out the zzz’s.
It was somewhat of a shock therefore when the doorbell rang an hour or two later and I suddenly found myself surrounded by blankets, pillows and plush toys. Having just woken, I must have looked really rough answering the door to Santa’s elves.
Whilst we’d usually have our hats, coats, and shoes on at the ready, I had completely forgotten that the big man was making a visit this evening, still being sleepy it felt a little surreal!
A Visit From Santa
As always, the kids were delighted to see Santa and to have their photos taken on his sleigh. It was only mid-snap that I realised that whilst the kids were wearing their coats and outdoor shoes as instructed. I, on the other hand, was wearing my coat and had somehow forgotten my shoes and was still wearing my oversized, fluffy duck slippers.
After Santa wished us a Merry Christmas and made his way towards further houses, I returned indoors past the mirror, where I then noticed that as I’d slept, I’d obviously smeared my eyeliner across my face. Not only was I sporting bright yellow, plush slippers but I was also fashioning Marilyn Manson style makeup… typical!
After a lengthy snooze, a hot bath, and another round of paracetamol I’m feeling a little better than before. It’ll certainly be a visit to remember, if not for the kids or myself then quite possibly for Santa and his elves…
Thanks for reading and as always I look forward to catching up with your #LivingArrows either through your own posts or comments upon this post.
