The elf made an unwelcome return as December arrived and whilst E was over the moon that her annual elfy friend had returned for his annual visit, I on the other hand was struggling for elf-orientated ideas.
Paul, being the inspired type, decided to have the elf dump the decorations in the living room with a request that we arrange them accordingly ready for the silly season thus we spent Saturday putting together and dressing a tree that’s somehow half a foot shorter than last year. Once Paul had strung the tree with lights, the kids did all the hard graft as they carefully and strategically placed baubles, stars, and various decorations in stunning symmetry, finishing their efforts by placing the fairy in pride of place with half a spruce up her skirt.
Though I’m not feeling all that festive this year, having the tree up seems to have made a real difference as our lounge is now twinkly, comforting, and cosey lit by the glow from the fairy lights.
Though J and I still have a fortnight to go until we break up for the Christmas holidays, E now has less than a fortnight and she’s super excited already. It’s certainly going to be an action-packed couple of weeks as E’s got her Christmas school show, her Christmas dance show, her Christmas party, and later this week, her Christmas jumper day. Being in senior school, J’s keeping things fairly low-key for Christmas and is simply looking forward to his turkey dinner in the dining hall, he’s not into parties nor shows, he’s more focused on the festive food soon to come, bless.
Thank you for reading and as always, I look forward to catching up with your #LivingArrows either through your own posts or comments on this post.
