Almost every Sunday whilst I am busy behind the bar my husband and the kids toddle off to my in-laws for Sunday dinner. Once upon a time I too used to join them for dinner but since my Sunday shifts started a couple of years ago I have been unable to do so, luckily I still get to enjoy a pub roast whilst working but I often wonder what my little ones are up to whilst I’m busy being a barmaid.
The kids love going to their Nana and Grandad’s house, they live by a farm which the kids enjoy running riot around more often than not returning home muck up to high heaven. Over the years I’ve armed my Mother-in-law with piles of spare clothing for such occasions, this weekend however the kids came home clean and as they were kept busy with some Sunday scooting through the local caravan park.
Sunday Scooting
One things for sure, when the kids visit either set of their Grandparents they get plenty of fresh air and come bedtime they are ready to hit the hay. Following a busy day at School and karate after a week’s half-term holiday the kids were definitely ready for bed this evening; a bit of supper, a quick bath and one book later they were both sound asleep.
Getting our kids to bed hasn’t always been easy especially in E’s case as she was once renowned for vomiting the moment you placed her into her cot, not just one or two nights but every night. We took her to the Health Visitor, the GP and all spent endless hours googling this, that and the other but as it turned out she was quite simply a stubborn tot who wished to exercise her willpower upon us. Thankfully E has outgrown her ‘sick stage’ and bedtime seems a lot less stressful three or four years down the line.
Now that the children are snuggled down and sleeping soundly I am going to run a hot, bubbly bath, wash my hair and slip into my oversized fluffy dressing gown which I will lounge around in whilst catching up on the soaps before heading to bedfordshire myself.
Thanks again for reading and as always I look forward to catching up with your #LivingArrows either through your own posts or comments upon this post.
