Though I usually share two photos as part of the #LivingArrows series, this week I’ve chosen to share just one – the annual obligatory ‘back to school’ snapshot which I captured the night before the chaos commenced.
Though we’ve been back for almost a week now, it still all feels so new as J is now at secondary school, E is now a junior, Paul now has a new role as manager and I have started working somewhere new in a completely new role which feels ever so slightly alien at present.
Though it’ll take time, I’m sure that we will eventually grow accustomed to the new positions, places, and the return to a routine but it’s not easy, especially not with all the ‘new but not so normal’ measures.
Seeing J & E suited and booted in their uniform brought a bit of a lump to my throat, it’s been over six months since the kids have been at school and they’ve grown so much since they last wore uniform!
Though lockdown was difficult at times, I could quite happily spend all day, every day with the kids – thus felt a pang of upset at the idea of our family time coming to an end. I’m a devil for wishing time away and I don’t mind admitting that I’m already counting down the weeks and days until the autumn half-term.
The kids, on the other hand, are elated to have returned to school though they are very conscious of Covid 19 thus anxiety levels are running a little higher than I would like. I am, however, rather pleased with how well they have each adapted and adjusted to ‘the new normal’ and their new schools/ settings.
Thank you for reading and as always, I look forward to catching up with your #LivingArrows either through your own posts or comments upon this post.

How grown up does J suddenly look?! I hope his move to secondary has gone smoothly x
What a lovely back to school photo. Hope the new routine is less alien and you are all starting to settle into it. Sounds like a lot of changes all at once x
Thank you – we are starting to settle a bit now thankfully
They both look very smart in their uniforms – I hope they’ve both settled back into the ‘new normal’ OK.
