#LivingArrows – School Starts & Applications 36/52 (2019)

The kids are now back to school and back to the regular routine. It’s been less than a week but already summer feels like it was a million years ago.

J is now in the final year of primary school, I cannot believe how fast time has flown! He’s grown into such an amazing young man; he’s independent, responsible, helpful and caring, I couldn’t be a prouder parent.

Given that he’s now double digits, I’ve finally loosed the leash and allowed him to walk home from school with friends, it’s a twenty-thirty minute walk along a busy road but I trust him to be sensible and to stay safe. Though, by four o’clock, I was curtain-twitching anticipating his return which was literally seconds later.

J needs to be given that independence as it’s not long now until he’s off to secondary school, speaking of which, I filled out and submitted the applications forms for earlier. It feels like it was only yesterday that I was applying for him to attend primary school, where on earth has the time gone to?!

Back To School

E meanwhile seems to be settling into year two, though she’s had a few wobbles which were to be expected. We spent this weekend giving her a little one-to-one time which seemed to work wonders, anything which involves cake and ice cream is usually a success!

I spent a few hours over the weekend clearing out the kitchen craft cupboards, I put aside toys and activities which the kids have outgrown and then replaced these with age-appropriate alternatives. I now have a cupboard stacked high with Orbeez, slime, clay, putty, aqua beads, Hama beads, loom bands,  fuzzy felts and such-like which should certainly keep the kids entertained.

I’ve also been through books and toys in the kids’ rooms, ridding of anything they no longer need nor use; it seems the older the kids get, the less storage they require as toys and games become smaller and less bulky.

With the school year starting, secondary school applications complete, and the cupboards cleared, I really do feel as if things are changing, my little ones are becoming big ones!
