Having driven down to Derby in what turned out to be a heatwave, and according to the records – the hottest bank-holiday weekend of all time, we thought what better to do in thirty-degree heat than to visit Alton Towers?!
Having filled ourselves with a scrummy hotel breakfast and lathered our bodies in factor fifty, we set off early to meet up with family outside of the Alton Towers park. We arrived before opening but already people were pouring into the park and it was set to be a busy, blistering hot day.
We began by talking a stroll around CBeebies land and queuing for what felt like an eternity to ride the Postman Pat ride. My brother-in-law very kindly offered to take the two girls on the Tree Tops ride whilst we rehydrated ourselves and set about queueing for further rides in Mutiny Bay.
With the weather being so hot, we were quite happy to get wet – anything to keep cool! We ended up riding the rapids, the kids then took several turns on the pirate boats screaming and laughing as they squirted each other with water cannons.

Riding The Rapids
After thoroughly soaking one and other the kids moved onto the likes of pirate ships (Blade), teacups and softer rides to end the day.
Despite being incredibly busy, we had an awesome day in the park. Paul and I even managed to sneak away to ride a couple of coasters (the Nemesis and the Oblivion), whilst the kids continued to screech and scream as they got wet with their Nana, Auntie, and Uncles.
It’s been years since I last visited Alton Towers and so much has changed since back then. There are so many rides and attractions which have been added, with kids though it’s not really possible to ride all the coasters, thus I think Paul and I will have to make a sneaky return visit before our ‘2 for 1’ tickets expire.
We had such an amazing time, the kids haven’t stopped talking about it since! It was a fun-packed, family weekend which I wish we could do all over again.
Thanks for reading and as always I look forward to catching up with your #LivingArrows either through your own posts or comments upon this post.

Lovely images!
I love Alton Towers, we had so much fun last year. Although I’m too scared to go on the big coasters now, the biggest I managed was Wicker Man
We didn’t do the Wicker Man – we soooo want to go back now though and do it all again during an ‘adult weekend’. It’s no good trying to get coasters done with little kids lol
I haven’t been there since I was a child! I’m glad you had a good time even with the Bank Holiday madness #livingarrows
It was awesome c
We went to Legoland on one of the hottest days and it was such hard work but still a lovely day – it looks like you all had a great time! x
We did but as you said it was hard work lol
