Like most of the UK we have been baking in the heat for the past couple of weeks. Although we are sun lovers and like to make the most of the good weather, there comes a point when a person can have too much sun and I think point is right about now.
The kids have spent hours running in and out of the paddling pool over the past few days and whilst they are greatly enjoying all the outdoor entertainment, they too are beginning to tire of the heat. This evening however we managed to acquire a fan, this has already made a massive difference to our comfort whilst indoors and I’m hoping it may help us all to sleep easy.
I spent a fair amount of money on sun lotion the other month in preparation for our holiday this summer, we’ve already got through the majority of that as I’ve been applying cream almost hourly for the past fortnight or more. I’m beginning to think we may have ‘acclimatised’ as none of us are particularly sun burnt which is impressive given that we’ve spent almost all day sat in the sun over the weekend.
After making do with a deck chair and a stool with a yoga mat thrown over to create a ‘make-shift sunlounger’, I finally bit the bullet and ordered a pair of sun-loungers which should arrive within the next day or two. E however seemed pretty impressed by my improvisational skills and was happy sat lounging in the sun whilst chomping her cheddars.
Little Lounger
The kids still have a further four weeks to get through before breaking up for the summer holidays, it feels though like our holiday has already arrived with the current heat wave. I know that I’m finding it quite difficult to fully function in these temperatures so lord knows how the kids are coping being in a classroom for the majority of the day.
I wasn’t sure whether it’d be worth going along to the roller disco this week as I half expected the gym to be much like a sauna. Thankfully it felt pretty cool and we were able to make use of the hall without being too hot.
J saved his energy a little as he swooped around on his swegway, it was so lovely to see him finally riding his swegway as he’s barely ever used it until now. It’s spent almost two years sat gathering dust in the garage and I beginning to worry that it may have been £200 down the drain. Thankfully J has now shown an interest in his rather expensive gadget and can’t wait to get back on his ‘hoverboard’ later this week. I’m almost certain that riding a swegway in this heat is far easier than skooting or skating too!

That segway looks so much fun and your little lady looks in her element lounging in the shade! x
A segway sounds like a very good option for getting around in this heat!
