Just like that – we are back to school and back into a routine (of sorts) for the final half term before the summer holidays commence. It doesn’t feel much like summer though, this time last year we were sunning ourselves out on loungers whilst sipping icy drinks as the kids kept cool in the paddling pool.
The weather isn’t quite what it was this time last year, nowhere near to be precise. I’m currently cuddled up in a fluffy dressing gown and don’t plan on getting my legs out anytime soon. As the weather hasn’t been all that, we were stuck indoors for much of the half term holiday, this didn’t stop us having fun though!
E is all about imaginative play, she loves to play host whether it’s being a hairdresser, a teacher, a nurse or a shop assistant… E adores role play and I love to indulge her by playing along with her many scenarios including being a customer within her beautiful cakes and bakes shop.
In My Imagination
Whilst J is incredibly imaginative, he prefers to express this through drawing comics, writing stories or by creating his own ‘mini-movies’. Never before have I seen a boy of such a young age so talented at graphic/ digital design.
J will happily sit at his laptop for hours (not that I actively encourage screen time but as his laptop is his creative outlet, therefore, I cannot really argue) designing all sorts of detailed pictures, animations, and storyboards all of which are of such high standard they could easily be confused for an adults work.
Graphics Guru
Whilst avoiding getting wet in the rain, the kids set about entertaining themselves with colouring, drawing, graphic design, clay modeling, Lego building, and imaginative role play.
Whilst I tend to get myself involved within their play (especially with E as she likes to have someone to bounce off) I quite like to take a moment to stand back and to watch them both whilst busy at their work…You can practically hear the cogs in their brains moving and it’s quite satisfying to see.
We have such an imaginative and intelligent pair of kids, their ideas are limitless – the sky is truly the limit!
Thanks for reading and as always I look forward to catching up with your #LivingArrows either through your own posts or comments upon this post.

It sounds like you had a lovely half term – even if you were mostly kept indoors by the rain. E looks very pleased with her shop! #LivingArrows
