With it being Paul’s birthday the other week, I finally sourced some self-raising flour (thanks Mum!) and E and I set about baking what turned out to be one of the finest chocolate gateaux’s that I have ever tasted.
My little lady loves to don her apron and get busy in the kitchen, she’s such a dab hand when it comes to baking. These days all I need do is provide the ingredients, throw the trays in the oven and other than that, I can pretty much stand back and leave my little lady to it… she’s so awesome bless her!
My Girl Making A Gateaux
Like everyone else in the UK, we are currently in the midst of a lockdown and given that non-essential shops are shut, this left us with little choice when it came to cutting J’s hair…
I watched a few YouTube tutorials on how to cut hair and was all set with my scissors, only to find that they simply weren’t sharp enough. Having snipped a few chunks from the side, there was no going back thus Paul very bravely came forward with his buzz-cutters and thirty-minutes later J had an army cut…
My Not So Little Army Cadet
Although J isn’t entirely impressed with our efforts, I have to say that it’s not all that bad considering. Once it grows a little we should be able to tidy up the sides by giving it a stepped effect, then hopefully we can also give him back the spiked fringe that he so loved… the poor lad!
There’s one thing about this lockdown malarkey – you certainly learn how to improvise and to build new skills when there’s no other option!
Thank you for reading and as always, I look forward to catching up with your #LivingArrows either through your own posts or comments upon this post.

You did a great job on his hair and E looks like she’s having a great time baking! x
She did x
Sounds like a delicious cake. I am currently planning a cake for my youngest as its been a long time since I have made one! Well done on the hair I am going to have to do ours soon!!
Happy baking 🙂
I think there’s going to be a lot of people around with shaved heads during this lockdown! Luckily I always cut Toby and Gabe’s hair anyway so it’s no difference for us anyway 🙂
I wish I could cut hair properly!
