As the sun was shining and the kids had been promised, we took the kids and the hound out for the day. We had originally planned to visit Jodrell Bank but due to time constraints we decided to visit somewhere a little closer to home – Grizedale Forest.
It was really nice to get out for the day and to spend time as a family with the hound in tow. There was no rush to return home due to the dog, we could literally spend as long as we liked just making the most of the good weather and the beautiful scenery. With a picnic packed, we sat in the courtyard whilst watching the children as they played on the park. After finishing our food (Maisy kindly made sure to dispose of our left overs) we made our way to the activity trail.
Having collected our ‘Zog activity packs’ we began collecting our stars and filling in our booklets as we went along the trail. As expected, the kids were rather excited by the concept of hunting for treasure (or stars in this case), they were also mesmerised by the magical keys in the trees, which when wound created beautiful music throughout the woods. Paul meanwhile took Maisy for a romp through the river, she came out rather refreshed and far cleaner than prior to our visit.
Dragon Hunter
Having located each of the dragons and the secret animals, and having revealed each picture post, we had walked just over a mile. The kids spent time splashing through the stream, clambering into tree houses, making magical music and slaying dragons… what more could they want? Ice cream of course! A day out wouldn’t be complete without a Cornetto or a Mr Whippy in my case.
Dragon Slayer
We took two very tired little ones back to the courtyard, where we had ice creams all round, before the kids dispersed of any remaining energy on the play park. I’m sure they will both sleep well tonight as will I! It was without a doubt, a fantastic, fun-filled day, packed full of fresh air, splendid scenery and many marvellous memories for us all.
Thanks for reading and as always I look forward to catching up with your #LivingArrows either through your own posts or comments upon this post.
