Talk about fitting as much as humanly possible into a small space of time – this past weekend went by in a blur as we just didn’t stop!
It may have been bitterly cold outside but it was the perfect weather for a play in the park, which is precisely where my husband took the kids (and the dog) to run off some energy which I ran myself ragged clearing, cleaning and sorting through endless amounts of clutter.
J is now back to himself, though I swear this ten-year-old of mine is getting to more like a teenager by the day. A week or so ago (during his recovery) J was bed-bound, which obviously bored the pants off him as he talked almost non-stop, yet now he’s back to normal it’s like having a version of Kevin from Harry Enfield slouching around the house. It’s all nods, shrugs, and grunts which makes conversation a little one-way.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m over the moon to have our little man ‘back to himself’ but I rather enjoyed our lengthy, interesting conversations whilst he was convalescing. I guess now he’s back to ‘keeping things cool’ thus keeping his Mother at arm’s length.
Keeping It Cool
E meanwhile is quite the limpet at times, she couldn’t be more loving. It’s all cuddles, kisses, and affection and I am making the most of it while it lasts. God help me once the gremlin-esk hormones kick in and she ‘transforms’ into a teen. I can kiss goodbye to “You’re the best Mummy in the World” and say hello to “Whatever Mam”…
Thankfully our little Princess is still a Mummys girl, she loves nothing more than to curl up for a cuddle. She refuses to rest in her bed until she’s had a story and of course – a goodnight kiss. E will happily hold my hand, she will often hang from my waist, legs or whatever she can get hold of. She likes to stay close and will talk openly and endlessly about anything and everything.
My Lovely Little Limpet
How is it that one moment you’re absolutely everything to your child – you are quite literally their World yet hormones come along and suddenly your ‘so embarrassing’ and no longer required? They only seem interested in your wallet contents and the wireless code, that and what’s for tea. Oh to be young again!
Thanks for reading and as always I look forward to catching up with your #LivingArrows either through your own posts or comments upon this post.

You’ve made me want to go and give both my children a big hug, time goes so quickly with them doesn’t it! I really don’t want to think about mine being teenagers or even pre-teens yet! x #LivingArrows
Awww yeh I got a big hug tonight which was both a surprise and much needed 🙂
They grow up so fast don’t they? Gabe is still very much a cuddler, but Toby at 6 is already starting to want cuddles less and less. #LivingArrows
Awww they sure do x
I’m so pleased to hear that J is back on the mend. It’s amazing how much you can fit into a weekend sometimes! x
