Happy New Year and welcome to 2021 – it’s a new year and a new start or maybe not… As you will have read/ seen/ heard on the news last night, we are now in a third national lockdown and for the kids, it’s back to homeschool for a second time.
This year things are a little different however as I’m currently coordinating both primary and secondary education for two children, whilst my husband and I are also trying to work on our own roles, all of which is taking place under one roof with a whole heap of tech and, thankfully a decent internet connection!
If it’s not my phone, my watch, or my MacBook beeping with endless notifications, then it’s the microwave, the dishwasher, the washing machine, or the doorbell… it’s all go!
Gadget Girl
Happy At HomeSchool
With the National Lockdown being announced only hours ago, what better time for a brand new iPad to arrive for the little lady than this week? I can only imagine how it will benefit her over the next few weeks/ months ahead. Meanwhile, J has his PC setup and at the ready for google classrooms and all that malarky, and even better – our home office has a brand new desk set up and ready with fresh paper, fresh printer ink, and all the gadgets and gizmos I should imagine that we will require for however long we will be working from home.
Though I’m well aware of the pressures which ‘homeschool’ places upon parents, I’m so grateful and relieved that Boris finally made the right decision as the welfare and safety of my kids throughout the current pandemic was a huge personal concern that kept me awake at night. I personally am far happier and much more comfortable with the concept of staying healthy, happy, and VERY BUSY at home.
Thank you for reading and as always, I look forward to catching up with your #LivingArrows either through your own posts or comments upon this post.

I too feel a lot happier about having the boys safe at home with me right now! Even though schooling is so hard (I honestly don’t know how workers are coping!). #livingarrows
It’s a balance for sure !
Hope your week is going ok – homeschooling is certainly tough! I do feel safer with my two at home though x #livingarrows
It’s tough but we are coping
We can do this Rach! This really isn’t where I wanted to start the year, and I’m sick of 2021 already, but, one day at a time and we will get through this x
We will x
I agree I think they should be at home I just wish he had made the decision earlier as we ended back for one day, yay to a new iPad hope that has helped this week. I find home schooling stressful but I keep telling myself we can only do what we can do. Hope this week is kind to you x
We can indeed only do what we can do
It sounds like you’ve got everything set up to make the best of the situation. The children seem to be coping so well with everything that this pandemic has thrown at them don’t they?
They are the heroes x
We are back to home school too, I am so happy. I just want my boys home safe.
Exactly !
It infuriates me that he allowed schools back for one day! I appreciate that he’s in a very difficult position but that was just pure stupidity allowing mass mixing for one day! The kids have been super stars throughout all this despite being the ones that have lost the most.
I was also infuriated and chose to keep my little lady off for that one day which I’m rather relieved about now …
