So here we are, September is coming to a close and as October arrives, autumn is officially upon us. It’s sure been a busy month, what with the return to school, and what seems to be an abundance of appointments, events, activities, and occasions that we’ve found ourselves attending. So without any further waffle, here are a few of my #LittleLoves from the past thirty days.
Read
September saw the UK and the commonwealth lose their much-loved monarch, this was a heartbreaking moment in history that was marked beautifully by us Brits as we showed our respects with pride and pomp. Like many, I followed the news via the BBC and spent many hours reading the latest on our late Queen.
Watched
With us wrapping up warm and cosy for autumn, we’ve been watching a few TV shows and films with the kids including the latest series of The Great British Bake Off and Disney’s latest Pinnochio film. Paul and I have also binge-watched the Netflix series Banana which was both an amusing and rather interesting watch.
Heard
Earlier this month I took E and my Mum to Manchester where we spent the weekend shopping prior to watching E’s first ever gig – an evening with George Ezra. Though we were sat in the gods, E was perfectly happy (if a little tired after a busy weekend) with her ear defenders at the ready and we had the best time. Since returning home, we’ve been listening to George on repeat via Alexa.
Made
Though I haven’t had much time for crafts or baking, I’ve made a whole heap of plans this month! Not only have I spent hours and hours of my time typing up planning for work in the hopes that this will benefit both myself and my students in the future, but I’ve also been making plans for (dare I say it?) Christmas...
I’ve made a cracking start to my Christmas shopping and have already ordered both the kid’s main presents alongside numerous stocking fillers so I’m feeling both accomplished and rather excited for the winter months ahead.
Wore
My all-time favourite season, Autumn, has officially arrived. The trees are turning from a luscious green to golden brown as the leaves start to fall creating a crunchy blanket upon which to walk. There’s a faint smell of chimney smoke in the air and the nights are beginning to get darker far earlier each day.
With the sudden and rather drastic drop in temperature, I’ve been wrapping up warm in my good old jeans, jumpers, and cardigans. It’s not quite hats, scarves, and gloves just yet but it won’t be too long before it’s winter wear all round.
My Mum very kindly treated me to a new Minnie Mouse night shirt and two brand new tops with funky slogans such as ‘dare to be different and ‘manifest your own happiness’ from Primark when we had our mooch around Manchester. Those items are now being regularly worn though I suspect I’ll be adding further layers in the upcoming weeks.
And Lastly
We had the pleasure of attending to my 103-year-old- Great-GrandNanna-in-law whilst my in-laws were away and despite being a little hard of hearing, she’s absolutely sharp as a pin both in terms of conversation and humour. I was dazzled to discover that Margy has seen not just one (like most of us) but five monarchs in her lifetime, isn’t that incredible?!
It was great to spend some time with the kids and their Great Nanna and to get some photos whilst we were there.
Thanks again for reading my blog and I hope that you enjoyed this month’s #LittleLoves. If you fancy sharing some of your own #LittleLoves, then why not join in either through your own blog post or by leaving a comment below, I would love to hear what your #LittleLoves might be.
