So here we are at the end of November already, Christmas is literally right around the corner and I for one cannot wait. Though it’s been an emotional month (as we marked a year since my darling Dad’s passing) we’ve done our best to keep busy and to stay upbeat. So without further ado, here are a few of my #LittleLoves for the past thirty days or so.
Read
I’ve spent the past couple of months working alongside a colleague trained in ‘Wellbeing’ and after practising a few of her relaxation and lifestyle tips I’ve found myself incorporating ‘wellbeing’ techniques into my own life thus I decided to reread my copy of Meik Wikings ‘The Little Book of Lykke’. Meik has spent time researching some of the World’s happiest people and has found ways in which we can raise our spirits, lift our smiles, and make life that little bit more enjoyable. I’ll be sure to put some of these techniques into practice in the new year.
Watched
Public fireworks displays were sadly cancelled last year thus the kids missed out on their annual trip to the local bonfire and fireworks display. Thankfully restrictions had eased this year allowing us the freedom to finally get out and to enjoy watching not one but THREE local fireworks displays where we had great fun watching the snaps, crackles and pops from the sky.
As for television and movies this month; we’ve spent many a dark evening snuggled on the sofa watching Netflix’s animated hit series ‘A Tale Dark & Grim‘ and of course the last few episodes of ‘The Great British Bake Off‘ which sadly came to an end earlier this week.
Heard
J and I listen to the radio each morning whilst on our drive to work/ school. For the past few weeks, Heart Radio has been inviting its listeners to call in and to answer five questions correctly in order to switch ‘Christmas’ on. J and I were practically screaming at the radio each and every morning for what felt like forever before someone finally got the full five correct and as of last week, we’ve been able to enjoy listening to some of our festive favourites.
Made
With Christmas just around the corner, I’ve spent the past month putting together photos of our family to create calendars which I then send away to VistaPrint for printing before wrapping and gifting to the family for Christmas. It doesn’t sound like a big job but by the time I’ve sifted through everyone’s photos, edited and collaged the images, then arranged the dates and the calendars correctly it’s extremely time consuming but also rather rewarding.
Wore
I spotted some glitzy, initialled hats whilst out on a shop at our local B&M Bargains and couldn’t resist getting my little lady and myself a matching set for the winter months. E couldn’t wait to wear hers and insisted that I wore mine simultaneously whilst out on the school run so that we would match. Little did I realise (until taking this selfie-style snapshot) that placed beside one and other our initials spell out ‘ER’ AKA accident and emergency which is about right as we are as clumsy as each other!
And Lastly
November 19th marked a year since my darling Dad nipped for a pint at the pub in the sky. It doesn’t feel like a year since we lost Dad, it feels like a few months at the most thus it was a difficult day and I wasn’t entirely sure how to mark the occasion or whether we should mark it at all…
Thankfully Mum and I managed to keep our emotions in stock as we placed flowers on his grave then travelled out to one of his favourite pubs to enjoy a meal and to raise a glass together in his memory.
Thanks again for reading my blog and I hope that you enjoyed this month’s #LittleLoves. If you fancy sharing some of your own #LittleLoves, then why not join in either through your own blog post or by leaving a comment below, I would love to hear what your #LittleLoves might be.
