Well it’s officially the eve of my son’s eighth birthday and as you can imagine it’s been a fairly busy week with birthday preparations and such like. Time is literally flying by, I seem to have very little grasp upon the day-to-day goings on, I really need to sort myself out, get a grip and get back on the ball as seven days seem to pass me by in the blink of an eye and I find myself desperately pondering my #LittleLoves during that time.

Having fed the kids supper, washed them both in a hot, bubbly bath I then settled them down to read a few stories both of which were ‘birthday based’ given that J turns eight-years old tomorrow. I decided to keep the mood colourful and opted for a few of the Mr Men classics including of course ‘Mr Birthday’.
I blumming love Roger Hargreaves books, the drawings, the text and of course the physical size of the books. There’s something so cute about things being ‘small’, being quite small myself I would say that!
Watched
Having booked tickets to see Tori Amos in October I have found myself re-watching gigs from the past. It was quite surreal to hear the sound of my own screams within the audience, such great memories and such powerful Music.
Heard
I’ve somehow moved from trance to dance to mellow and mild within the space of a week. London Grammar is currently on permanent repeat both in the house and in the car.
Made
With it being J’s birthday tomorrow I have of course got my bake on, I wasn’t entirely sure whether the cake would turn out as a perfect pirate ship or more like a ship wreck. As it turns out I’ve somehow managed to concoct a pretty nifty little ship if I say so myself.
It may be covered in smarties, it may contain more chocolate than I care to consider but who cares? So long as my boy is happy with his cake then that’s all that matters right?
Wore
Whilst out and about shopping for party favours I found myself eyeing up a denim dress that I had my eye on a few months back. Said dress didn’t actually fit last time I came across it, neither was it down to half price but given that I’ve lost a little weight over the past few weeks actually a crap load of weight if I’m completely honest and that Tesco were being generous yep you got it right, I shop for clothing in the same place that I buy my weekly groceries I thought ‘sod it why not treat yourself Rach?’.
We all deserve a little pick me up now and then right? Ok so I may have gone slightly overboard on the wardrobe revamp lately but as I see it, it’s an investment. So I got the dress and I am now the proud owner of a denim dungaree number which I absoloutly adore. I’m going to get a few more of these dresses online over the next few weeks and whilst dungaree dresses may be a thing of the nineties I don’t care one iota!
And Lastly
J arrived home from school this afternoon with a familiar sticker stuck to his shirt. Upon closer inspection I realised that he’d only gone and won this weeks ‘Light House Award’, he was obviously incredibly proud as was I.
Not only has he bagged this weeks school award but he has also put in a huge amount of effort at karate lessons and following grading brought home a shiny new orange belt. Our little man seems to be pulling out all the stops this week and I’m so bleeping proud of him its unreal!
Thanks again for reading my blog and I hope that you enjoyed this weeks #LittleLoves. If you fancy sharing some of your own #LittleLoves then why not join in either through your own blog post or by leaving a comment below, I would love to hear what your #LittleLoves might be.

Wow that pirate ship cake is cool! Did you follow a recipe? My little boy would love it for his birthday in July!

Thanks Sadie !
Wow- sounds like a week full of accomplishments. I love the cake – I bet your son will be bursting with pride when he’s sees it. And I’ll raise my hand for combining wardrobe, food (and homeware) in the same shop! #LittleLoves
Hehe yep shop all in one place is best
Happy birthday to your little boy! That cake is fantastic! I’ve never attempted cakes in the shape of anything, always going down the easy circle/square baking tin shape route, so I’m very impressed. xx
Thanks !!!
Happy birthday to your boy. Love that cake it’s awesome!
