Welcome to this month’s #LittleLoves post, which is part of a series that you are very welcome to join.
May has been quite a busy month under this roof of ours. Both J and E have been occupied revising and sitting various examinations whilst Paul and I have kept ourselves busy decorating and updating a few bits and bats around the house. Alongside all that we’ve celebrated birthdays, fresh starts, and new beginnings… so without further ado, here are a few of my #LittleLoves for the past thirty-one days.
Read
I picked up a copy of JoJo Moyes ‘Me Before You’ whilst visiting my in-laws and having read the first two pages couldn’t put it down. Whilst it was a heartwrenching read, I couldn’t put the book down and had binge-read the entire thing within twenty-four hours thus purchased ‘After You’ and ‘Still Me’ as I found the series utterly addictive. I’ve since watched the film ‘Me Before You’ and much to my delight discovered that my long-time Home & Away heartthrob Brax aka Stephen Peacocke plays one of the main characters – suddenly the series grew on me even more so.
Watched
With the third series of the much-loved ‘Clarksons Farm‘ returning to our screens this month, we’ve spent the past few weeks snuggled on the sofa enjoying every moment of Clarkson, Caleb and the crew on Diddly Squat Farm. Paul and I have also been watching QI as following completing Clarkson’s Farm, there hasn’t been much else on that has interested us.
Heard
I’ve spent the past month getting back to my roots by listening to firm favourites; Tori Amos, Alanis Morissette, PJ Harvey, Ani Difranco, and London Grammar who recently performed at BBC Radio One’s ‘Big Weekend’.
Made
Tis a tradition in this house to bake a chocolate log both for Christmas and of course, my son’s birthday as Delia’s Squidgy Chocolate Log is a firm favourite with our young man. Alongside cake I’ve also baked numerous other treats to keep the household happy including cheese straws, nutty flip (aka flapjack), rock buns, jam tarts, and various other sweet treats.
Wore
Now that the sunshine has finally made an appearance and it seems summer is well and truly here, I’ve found myself transforming much like a butterfly from a cocoon. Firstly, I’ve had my thick long locks snipped and shaped to a lighter, thinner, almost bob-style and secondly, I’ve finally ditched the jeans and jumpers in exchange for leggings, light dresses, shades, and my recent addition – Crocs! Though I’ve never been a fan of Crocs, I often borrow my daughters whilst mopping downstairs as it saves me from soaking through my slippers and whilst wearing hers I discovered just how practical and perfect they actually are. Given that I’m a short-arse, I opted for the ‘Mega Crush Crocs’ with a rather hefty platform wedge to help lift me to the dizzying heights of the kitchen cupboards so I can at least reach a mug should I fancy a brew.
And Lastly
Whilst most sane families tend to book a holiday for the half-term holidays, Paul and I decided to take the opportunity to finally decorate our son’s boudoir in a celtic, purple theme as he kindly requested. My husband and I have worked really hard over the past week to paint, re-floor, and re-furnish his room so he can finally have a clean, classy room in which to rest and relax.
Thanks for reading my #LittleLoves post, I look forward to catching up and reading through your #LittleLoves posts
