So here we are at the end of July already, the summer holidays have finally arrived, and the next six weeks are our own to enjoy. It’s been a busy month, certainly so towards the end of term as we endured an endless realm of appointments and activities before the big break arrived. So without further ado, here are a few of my #LittleLoves from the past month.
Read
Month after month I’ve continued to promise myself that I’ll buy a new book and get myself back into reading though up until now I simply haven’t had the time. With the holidays arriving I finally had time to browse the bookshelves and my husband very kindly treated me to Sophie Kinsella’s ‘The Party Crasher’ which I’ve read the first few chapters of and am quite enjoying so far.
Watched
It’s not often that I have a girl’s night out but earlier this month my Mum and I took a trip out to the cinema to watch ‘Good Luck To You Leo Grande’ – we’d both had high hopes for this film but it was, unfortunately, a little too slow going and rather bland for our liking.
With my Sky TV on the blink, I’ve been forced to switch from recorded shows to streaming and actually, I think I prefer it! Here’s hoping that at some point I can cancel my pricy Sky contract and save a few pennies. There’s so much on streaming services these days it hardly seems worth having Sky to be fair – Paul and I enjoyed watching Palm Springs, for example, a time-travel-based romance featuring the awesome Andy Samberg. It was a great watch that I’d much recommend.
Speaking of streaming – J and I have spent this last week binge-watching HeartStopper, a new-ish Netflix series based upon Alice Oseman’s webcomics (which I now intend to buy). Thank goodness for Netflix, Disney Plus, and Prime – Sky can go swivel!
Heard
Having booked tickets for what will be my daughter’s first ever gig, we’ve had George Ezra playing on repeat throughout the house in preparation for September.
Wore
So with the sudden arrival of the summer weather, I found that I was in need of new shoes and not just one pair but apparently… five! Firstly I decided to replace my rather worn winter boots with a pair of brand new Pavers. Secondly, with the chance that I may go out this summer, I needed some comfy but cute heels thus ordered some Skechers sandals.
Having bought two pairs of shoes I decided buying Birkenstocks was out of the question thus ordered a pair of Schuh sliders in a similar design but found those to be slightly uncomfortable thus ordered some comfier white sliders from Amazon which I’ve since also bought in black. Needless to say I’m sorted for the summer when it comes to shoes!
Made
J got crafty in the kitchen this month as part of his homework and made a colourful, cute, and incredibly tasty sponge cake which he dutifully decorated. He’s such a whizz in the kitchen, though I wish he was as good at cleaning up as he is at cooking!
And Lastly
To celebrate the end of the summer term our little lady took to the stage and performed in a summer dance show. Though acquiring her outfit was somewhat stressful, it was certainly worth all the effort as E looked amazing, performed perfectly, and blew us all away with her terrific tap and ballet dancing.
Thanks again for reading my blog and I hope that you enjoyed this month’s #LittleLoves. If you fancy sharing some of your own #LittleLoves, then why not join in either through your own blog post or by leaving a comment below, I would love to hear what your #LittleLoves might be.
