Truth be told I haven’t had the best week, it could have been a damn site better that’s for sure! For twelve years or so Paul and I have been a ‘two car couple’, that was until earlier this week when our rather ancient Fiesta kicked the brum brum bucket in style. We always said that we’d keep ‘Fi Fi’ running until her nose was in the ground and I’m fairly certain having spoken to Mike and the mechanics (not the band but the real deal) that her time has come.
Following our motoring misery we were dealt another blow as Storm Caroline or whatever her name was got a little heavy-handed with our greenhouse smashing a couple of windows and costing us even more pennies that we don’t really have to spend.
As you can imagine this evenings edition of #LittleLoves has taken some thinking about as I’ve had to dig deep to pull out some positives from a week I’d much rather forget. So without any further waffle or whingeing here goes…
Read
As you can imagine much of my reading over the past couple of days has been motoring or financed based. I’ve learnt all about the likes of PCP and personal finance options, both of which end with a gigantic sting in the tail, that and I’m fairly sure I could rival Jeremy Clarkson with my knowledge upon ‘reasonably priced cars’ without any stars!
I’ve actually enjoyed reading car reviews as it seems the majority of people whom actually take the time to write a review are either keyboard warriors, motoring geeks or regular Joe’s smashing their fists upon their desks in sheer frustration as the internet seems to be the only place suitable to spout their venom upon their motoring mishaps.
Watched
As much as I love Christmas I cannot help feeling a little synical now and then. The kids still believe in Santa which is a wonderful thing but as parents it can make our job of ‘making their dreams come true’ bleeding awkward. If only we were magic, if only we could make things like the elves in the workshops, if only we could fly around the World on a sleigh pulling every gift they wish for from a magic sack…
The reality is that we can’t do any of the above, we try our damned hardest but having spent up come November on what we thought was ‘everything they wanted’ they then suggest further ideas. These extra ideas leaves us parents in a state of panic that come Christmas day the shizz may hit the festive fan.
Whilst browsing my Facebook feed I came across this hilarious Christmas comedy sketch which is well worth a watch should you feel ‘conned by Christmas’ much like myself.
Heard
I’ve had numerous tracks playing throughout the week but the ear worm which seems to have stuck with me and I’ve found myself whistling, humming or randomly bursting into song with is the Freemasons remix of this rather catchy Whitney Houston classic ‘How Will I Know’.
Made
I haven’t really made anything as such this week but I have spent quite a lot of time rearranging, tidying and generally organising the house into some form of ‘order’. Much like a ‘spring clean’ I’ve had a ‘Christmas clear out’ in preparation for the big mans visit.
I’ve finally made space in my kitchen for all the pots, pans, cutlery and general kitchen crap including storage for my rather epic collection of Tupperware. Making space seems to have been the theme for the week although I’m yet to tip out the toy boxes and cut down the kids clutter.
Wore
Having being out on what was originally meant to be a shopping spree for ‘presents for friends and family’ I somehow came home with a brand new scarf for myself… I’m meant to be saving money but somehow I keep frittering it on random crap that I don’t really need but looks damn good!
And Lastly
We were recently sent this rather beautiful ‘Diamante Pleats‘ duvet set from JD Williams. This glamorous, gold bedspread has completely transformed our bedroom! Not only is this duvet set glitzy, gorgeous and glam but it has also been reduced in price along with a wide range of other throws and bedding sets from JD Williams (prices may vary dependent upon size, styles etc).
Thanks again for reading my blog and I hope that you enjoyed this weeks #LittleLoves. If you fancy sharing some of your own #LittleLoves then why not join in either through your own blog post or by leaving a comment below, I would love to hear what your #LittleLoves might be.

Lovely Little Loves post, Rachel! So sorry to hear about your car… we recently went down to a one-car household and without the money to buy another one, we’ve had to stay that way. It’s not been too bad – LPD cycles to the train station for work and I have the car most of the time to traipse Pickle around all his baby classes. Fingers crossed it’s saving us some money too. LOVE the new bedding – and that Santa job video is brilliant.
Thanks Holly given we are in a rural area and we both work we will HAVE to get a new car.
Currently looking at options but it’s a bit tricky finance wise 🙁
Im not a car geek but I can say that I have a little c1 which is perfect for running around, very economical and I really like driving it. Glad it’s just not me who finds it hard to shop for others and resist temptation, it’s often one for you, one for me! Have a good week x
I’m hoping to get the car fixed but we will see x
Rubbish news about your car Rachel! We’ve had periods of being a one car family and it’s not easy. I hope you manage to sort something out. xx
Thanks x
