Welcome to the final #LittleLoves post for 2024. #LittleLoves is a monthly post and is part of a series/ linky which you are very welcome to join should you fancy sharing the highlights from your month.
For the past year, I have also been hosting the #MyFiveFavouriteMonthlyMoments linky aka #MFFMM. However, I have decided to bring that particular series to a close as I don’t have the time to complete two monthly round-ups. As of January 2025, I will be extending the #LittleLoves linky to include ‘And Lastly, My Top Three Moments from the Month’ which will reduce my workload somewhat and should sum each month up in a singular post.
So without further ado, to bring the year to a close, here are my #LittleLoves from December 2024:
Read
Having completed Colleen Hoover’s ‘Maybe Someday’, and ‘Maybe Not’, I’ve spent this past week reading the final book in the series, ‘Maybe Now‘. I’m somewhat perplexed by the general public’s attitudes towards Colleen’s work as I personally really enjoy her books, and have especially enjoyed this particular series.
Watched
We have been somewhat spoilt with an array of shows on the television this Christmas. Over the past week alone we’ve watched ‘That Christmas‘, ‘The Grinch’, ‘Wallace and Gromit’s Vengence Most Fowl, Eastenders, Mrs Brown’s Boys, Die Hard, and of course, the finale of Gavin and Stacey.
Like most the UK, I have to say that the BBC has certainly done us proud this year in terms of seasonal shows and specials. They have raised the bar so high in fact that I’m not sure they will ever quite live up to their own standards for quite some years.
Heard
After spending three hours sitting on the living room floor splayed over the sellotape and wrapping paper whilst completing my ‘festive duties’, I was rather relieved to wrap the final present when as if to congratulate me on my success, the BBC launched into an evening with the Eurhythmics. I for one adore Annie Lennox and rather than heading out for a beer or three, I opted to stay safe from the storms and snuggled on the sofa to watch almost five hours of back-to-back shows celebrating Annie Lennox and the Eurhythmics.
Alongside The Eurythmics and of course, the seasonal songs which have played endlessly on the radio, I’ve also enjoyed listening to my brand new Tori Amos album ‘Diving Deep Live’ which includes songs from the last two years worth of her tours and are a real treat to listen back on.
Made
As you can imagine, I, along with my children, have made a whole heap of festive food with it being the Christmas season. We’ve shared family buffets and Christmas dinner, and since then we’ve continued to feast on leftovers that are still piled high in the fridge. My oven has had its work cut out for it this year as we’ve certainly kept ourselves stocked high with festive food and treats.
Wore
Given that my waistline needs to come down two or three sizes, I’ve spent the majority of this month lounging around in leggings accompanied by various slouchy tops or Christmas-themed clothing to mark the season. I’ve added a bit of bling here and there with my £2 Shein Christmas Tree earrings but otherwise, I’ve not altered my clothing all that much.
And Lastly
For personal reasons, Christmas hasn’t been easy these past few years. Thankfully, we’ve teamed together as a family and I’ve surprisingly enjoyed this past week (other than the Santa stress and the endless wafting myself with oven gloves to prevent hot flushes from hitting me mid-bake). E stunned me with her beautiful singing earlier this month as she stood at the front of the church as part of the school choir, she then brought home some rather wonderful woodwork that she’d completed during lessons.
J meanwhile brought home some mock GCSE results to be rather proud of and we’ve spent time applying for prospective college courses at two of our local colleges ready for September.
Both J and E enjoyed days out on various trips to Blackpool to see a Pantomime (and to visit the backstage area!) and Morcambe to bounce around, go bowling, and play laser tag. They both then arrived home ready and excited for their Christmas holidays and we’ve most definitely enjoyed the festive season thus far.
Thanks for reading my #LittleLoves post, I look forward to catching up and reading through your #LittleLoves posts
