Welcome to this month’s #LittleLoves post, which is part of a series that you are very welcome to join.
We’ve had a busy month what with the chaos that was the run-up to Christmas and of course, all the events and celebrations that have taken place over the past four or so weeks. It’s certainly been a frantic festive season, here are a few of my #LittleLoves from this month.
Read
Other than my current read, Alexandra Potter’s ‘One Good Thing’ which I’ve barely read a chapter of quite simply as I’ve been too busy for books, I’ve spent the past week or two flicking back and forth through the Radio Times to locate various television listings whilst also trying to solve the annual ‘picture puzzle quiz’.
Watched
If there’s something good to be said about the winter months, it has to be Christmas television. It’s the only time of year when there’s anything worth watching on the box and this year has been no exception. This month we’ve enjoyed watching all sorts of festive films, shows, and programs including Dawn Of The Nugget and the classics ‘Home Alone‘ and ‘Home Alone 2′. We’ve also delved into the drama of Eastenders and Netflix’s latest film ‘Leave The World Behind‘ which was more frightening than festive but still, it was an interesting watch.
Heard
It’s not Christmas without a few rounds of the Pogues ‘Fairytale of New York’ (RIP Sean McGowan). As always, we’ve had a selection of our festive favorites playing on Alexa throughout the month.
Made
It’s been like a permanent buffet as a feature on the sideboard in our kitchen this month as we’ve grazed on a festive but fattening diet of cheese, chocolate, cookies, mince pies, and various festive nibbly bits that won’t help our waistlines but that’s Christmas right? My Kitchen Aid has had its work cut out this month as we’ve baked a variety of sweet treats including cookies, cakes, and our annual Squidgy Chocolate Log. Thankfully I’ve had my ‘not so little’ helpers by my side to lend a hand.
Wore
We’ve certainly updated our festive wardrobes this month; E got a brand new Elf dress for her final primary-school Christmas party which she adores and has since worn for various events. J was gifted a whole heap of tops and a beautiful purple wool jacket for Christmas that he’s spent the past week modeling with pride. Meanwhile, Paul and I also added a few bits and pieces to our winterwear collection including some new scarves, hats, pajamas, and I finally caved into the latest craze and donned an Oodie! I also got myself a gorgeous green dress to wear ‘out out’ (and may well squeeze into for the new year if I lay off the mince pies).
And Lastly
Whilst we’ve enjoyed Christmas, I will admit that I have personally found this year incredibly difficult. Christmas is meant to be the season of magic and happiness and whilst I cannot express how lucky I am to have my husband and the kids surrounding me with smiles, love, and support, I’ve really struggled this year. I would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank all those of you who have shown kindness and who have supported me through comments, or just a simple smile.
So my ‘and lastly’ section for this month is quite simply that I’m still here, I’m still standing and somehow or other I MADE IT through the month.
Thanks for reading my #LittleLoves post, I look forward to catching up and reading through your #LittleLoves posts
