We are now half way through the holidays, the kids sure seem to be enjoying their time off as are Paul and I for that matter. We don’t do things by halves in this household though and rather than relaxing , we’ve given ourselves a heap of hard work by adding a further four paws to our family.
I have to admit that having a puppy is much like having a newborn only without the lady related issues. We’ve found ourselves having to stick to a strict routine as toilet training, feeding schedules and keeping our two fur babies content have become priority. With it being the holidays we are more than able to accommodate this, though once we are back at work things may be a little trickier to tackle.
Having a ‘new pup’ leaves very little opportunity for getting out and about, which is a bit of a shame for the kids over Easter but they don’t seem to mind in the slightest!
Without stating the obvious, this week has been chicken oriental. If I’m not racing around with a mop in one hand and kitchen roll in the other then I’m busy running in and out of the house commanding a perplexed puppy to “get on” or “get in”. Along with the general chores and keeping the kids entertained I’m utterly exhausted, thank god for the holidays right?
So without any further waffle, whilst the pup is finally flopped out on its bed, I’ll get onto the task in hand and list a few of my #LittleLoves from the past seven days.
Read
As expected given our recent addition, I’ve spent the majority of the week reading up upon basset hounds, toilet training for puppies and all kinds of doggy related documentation.
Watched
Whilst housebound due to being on ‘pup patrol’, Paul and I decided to add yet another subscription fee to our monthly outgoings; we too are now able kick back with ‘Netflix and chill’. This week we have watched every single episode from series one of ‘Orange Is The New Black‘ and we both are hopelessly hooked, we’ve yet to watch a further four series but I’m guessing with the pace that we are watching at present then come May we will have finished the box set.
Heard
Paul celebrated his thirty-fifth birthday earlier this week, he was spoilt rotten with gifts including an Amazon Echo (the larger version of the Echo Dot) which the kids and I gave to him. The Echo now has pride of place in our living room; the sound quality is simply amazing and I’ve somewhat enjoyed having Music of my choice available upon command, so far though I’ve spent most of my time listening to Heart FM as Maisy (our new pup) seems soothed by the radio.
Made
With it being Paul’s birthday I got crafty in the kitchen and threw together Delia’s delightful ‘Squidgy Chocolate Log’ which went down a treat with family and friends. I’ve also made a fair amount of Easter bakes, cakes and crafts with the kids earlier in the week before our house became ‘basset bedlam’.
Wore
Spring may have arrived but the sun is yet to commit, that said we’ve had the odd bright spell which has given me the chance to show off my new shades. They weren’t exactly expensive nor are they any different from my old shades other than they aren’t scratched to shizz but they do the job and I kinda like rocking ‘bug eye’ bins.
And Lastly
What with Easter, Paul’s birthday, the puppy and everything else it’s been a pretty full on week. It’s been the first week in years though that I haven’t had to work and I’ve enjoyed every moment of ‘my time off’. It might not have been the most relaxing holiday so far but I’ve actually ‘been there’, I’ve been at home with my family and my friends and that has made all the difference.
Thanks again for reading my blog and I hope that you enjoyed this weeks #LittleLoves. If you fancy sharing some of your own #LittleLoves then why not join in either through your own blog post or by leaving a comment below, I would love to hear what your #LittleLoves might be.
