Welcome to this month’s #LittleLoves post, which is part of a series celebrating the positive points from each month. You are very welcome to partake should you fancy commenting or sharing your own blog posts/ social media posts below.
Though we haven’t been abroad this year, August sure has been eventful. Whilst I’ve been occupied with work, the kids have entertained themselves with endless trips, activities, or playdates out and about with family and friends. I don’t think that there’s been a day gone by when E hasn’t either been playing at a friend’s house or had a friend come over to play here – I’ve never known anyone with a social schedule like our daughter’s, she never stops, bless her! J has also had a couple of days out and about but he’s not quite the social butterfly like E. Still, he’s spent time catching up on homework, animating, gaming, and chilling which is precisely what the summer holidays are all about, right? Anyhow, I’ll spare you any further waffle and get to sharing my #LittleLoves from the past month.
Read
Given that I’ve spent most of my time occupied with work I haven’t had quite the same amount of time to read as I once did thus I’ve cut back somewhat on my Kindle downloads – I guess it’s saved me some pennies at least! Despite reducing my reading, I’ve still managed to get through Ana Huang’s ‘King of Sloth‘ and am now looking for my next series to read. My husband very kindly bought me a brand new Kindle Paperwhite for my birthday just gone and so I’m now set up and sorted with the latest tech to enjoy books aplenty… I just need the time!
Watched
With it being the summer holidays, we’ve watched several movies, shows, and programs including ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ and ‘Puss In Boots – The Last Wish‘. Paul and I have also started scrolling our way through Channel 4’s ‘First Dates‘ whilst J and I have been watching an array of comedians including John Bishop, Danny Bhoy, Russel Howard, Jason Manford, Jack Whitehall, Micky Flanagan, Scott Bennett, and Ed Byrne who we’ve just booked to see live next month.
Heard
Though I usually tend to sway towards listening to ‘chick-angst music’ such as Tori Amos, Alanis Morissette, and such-like, I’ve recently found myself switching to Radio X for motivational music whilst working. I’ve got to say I’m rather enjoying the change in genre and it’s certainly keeping me on my toes whilst I’m tapping away at the keyboard.
Made
August is my daughter’s birth month thus I spent a fair few hours putting together the obligatory birthday cake. As requested, this year’s cake was themed on Stranger Things and though the final result was far from perfect, it sure tasted good and as the saying goes ‘the proof is in the pudding’. Alongside baking cakes and a range of sweet and savoury treats, I have also created a couple of new covers for my shiny new Kindle, and even more exciting – I made a rather huge purchase earlier this month as Paul and I finally replaced our trusty old Zafira with a brand spanking new MG.
Wore
Whilst I’d love to brag about wearing shorts, vest tops, and flip-flops, the weather here in the UK has been more like winter than summer thus I’ve spent the past few weeks adorned in my usual leggings, swing dress tops, slippers, and a headset to take calls whilst working. I splurged on three or four new bras and a new pair of slippers whilst my husband very kindly got me some new rainbow socks. Otherwise, I’m still in my casual comfies and why not?
And Lastly
August has certainly been the month for celebration as I turned forty-something, E turned eleven, and my amazing Mother-in-law will shortly be turning seventy. To celebrate we managed to pull off a three-day surprise trip for fourteen of us in the Lakes. Whilst we endured torrential rain and flooding, we still had the very best of times carrying out an array of activities including bouncing around on the Tree Top Nets, a trip to Hayes Garden Centre, and an evening out in Ambleside where we enjoyed a beautiful meal at an Italian restaurant. It was a wonderful few family days away where we made memories that I’ll forever treasure.
Thanks for reading my #LittleLoves post, I look forward to catching up and reading through your #LittleLoves posts
