Welcome to this month’s #LittleLoves post, which is part of a series that you are very welcome to join.
August has been the most amazing, incredible, and awesome month I think we as a family have ever experienced. We flew out to Florida for a fortnight in Orlando on the 1st of August thus there’s been more than just #LittleLoves this month for all of us. I’m not even sure where to start in terms of sharing our memories as there are just so many of them and we will treasure them for a lifetime.
Read
Being the prepared type, I bought two books for the holiday but being a book worm I’d already read them from cover to cover before we even hit the runway. Thankfully there were sequels to be read, both of which (Serena Terry’s The Sh!te Before Christmas and Alexandra Potter’s ‘More Confessions of a Forty-something f##k up‘) I purchased and am currently midway through finishing the final chapters of.
Watched
In terms of television this month; Paul and I completed watching the final series of Manifest which was perhaps not the best program to watch whilst cruising at three hundred and however many feet while on an eight-hour flight but still, it was a great watch with an intriguing storyline.
Whilst in Orlando we watched a whole array of shows including Disneys classic Muppets 3D, Mickey’s Philharmonic 3D, fireworks displays, various parades, dolphin shows, sea lion shows, orca displays, and all kinds of magical memories that will remain with us forever more.
Since returning home I’ve binge-watched the latest season of ‘And Just Like That‘ and whilst I enjoyed it, I found the final episode somewhat frustrating if a little predictable in places. Still, you can’t beat Cari Bradshaw and her pals for a little lift from the inevitable jet lag I found myself suffering from.
Heard
Having spent the majority of August hyped up for the holiday we’ve since spent the past week or so reliving the memories by listening to songs from the likes of Disney’s Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind and the Aerosmith Rockin Rollercoaster. From Blondies ‘One Way or Another‘ to Aerosmiths ‘Walk This Way’ and ‘Love In An Elevator’ to the classic Tears for Fears ‘Everybody Wants To Rule The World’.
Made
With August being the month of birthdays in this household both Paul and I have been doing our fair share of baking. Paul made me a rather marvelous forty-shaped mars bar cake for my big day and I then baked E not one but two Harry Potter-themed cakes (one for her birthday and one for her party).
Wore
Having spent the past few weeks enduring forty-degree (Celsius) temperatures with 100% humidity it’s been all about the shorts, vest tops, and numerous layers of factor fifty for all of us. One thing I have however worn which is a little different this month is an extra set of ears because when in Disney… you must mimic the mouse!
And Lastly
August has most definitely been the month of celebrations; Paul and I celebrated our sixteenth wedding anniversary, I celebrated my fortieth birthday, and finally, E celebrated her tenth birthday. The celebrations didn’t stop there however as I was reading the latest GCSE results and was delighted to find that my first group of talented Textiles students blew it out of the water with their results and I couldn’t be prouder!
So there we have it, that’s August in a nutshell. At some point, I will sit down and write a more detailed post but until then I wish you all the best and hope that you’ve had a super summer!
Thanks for reading my #LittleLoves post, I look forward to catching up and reading through your #LittleLoves posts
