Though I adore autumn, I’ll openly admit that I’m not the biggest fan of September as a month as it just seems to drag somehow. Whether it’s the return to routine following a lengthy summer holiday or just the change in the weather, I’m not sure but I’m always happy to see September come to a close. On a positive note, here are just a few of the things that I have #LikedandLoved throughout the past month.
Loving The Living Room
After having wood-effect flooring laid throughout the kitchen and the living room, I felt that we needed warmth in the room thus I ordered a fluffy, grey rug to add a little (or rather large) cosey comfort to the aesthetics of the room.
Kitchen Kickboards & Underlighting
Though I’m still hankering for an extra plug socket or two, our kitchen is now 99% complete as we’ve finally had the kickboards fitted and my wonderful husband very kindly bought some colour-changing underlighting for the cabinets which has made the World of difference.
Ice Cream Sundays
September began with glorious sunshine and thirty-degree temperatures, though it would have been nicer if the weather had been similar during August, we made the most of the September sunshine as we biked to the beach where we devoured delicious ice creams whilst basking in the heat.
It’s Like Riding A Bike…
After eight years of throwing abdabs and tantrums, E finally mastered the art of riding a bike without the security of stabilisers or her Dad running alongside her. Though she chose to begin on grass (which seemed a bit too much like hard work in my eyes but who would dare question an eight-year-old?!) E has since learned to ride on tarmac (like a normal kid!) and has since been riding her bike around and around our cul-de-sac with a huge grin plastered across her chops.
Back To The Beat
Not only did the kids start back at school this September, but they also returned to their regular after-school music classes and I’ve rather enjoyed accompanying J as he’s got ‘back to the beat’ with his drum lessons where he’s played along to the likes of The Rolling Stones, and my Dad’s all-time favourite, Led Zepellin. Meanwhile, E has been busy learning to play the piano at home and she’s blown both myself and Paul away with her efforts.
Ballet Beautiful
Ever since the ‘lockdown’ lifted, E has been bugging me to take her back to dance lessons and although I had hoped she would want to return to her gymnastics class, she seems far happier learning her beloved ballet and tap-dancing which she now attends classes for on a weekly basis. E has been given a brand new leotard, ballet plimsoles, tap shoes, and even a unicorn onesie to ensure that she stays warm whilst on the journey to and from and lessons… talk about spoilt!
Hello Halloween
With Halloween just around the corner (ok it’s a month away but that’s not the point) J & E chose new outfits that have since arrived and have been altered to fit ready to rock Halloween. With a little luck, we’ll be able to take the kids trick or treating this year and if all goes to plan I’m hoping to take them out over half term to celebrate the occasion.
Play Dates & Park Life
What better way to end a busy day at school than a jaunt to the park for a playdate? E and I have been making the most of the wonderful weather by spending time after school on the swings, slides, and various new park equipment.
Winter Warmth
With the darker nights drawing in, the temperatures dropping, and the recent installation of our wooden flooring, I treated myself to some brand new ‘bedroom athletics boot slippers‘ to keep my feet cosey and comfortable.
Autumns Arrival
Oh, how I adore autumn; wearing chunky-knit scarves and cosey gloves, crunching through the gorgeous golden-brown carpet of leaves in fur-lined boots, the faint smell of chimney smoke lingering in the air… it’s just the best season!
