So here we are at the end of October already, I guess it’s officially time to start stocking up for Christmas and to get prepared for the season ahead. On that note, here are a few of the things that I have #LikedandLoved throughout October.
Excited About Ed
Having watched Ed play live numerous times on the television I’m forever amazed by his looping and ‘one-man band’ ability thus when I saw tickets being advertised, it was a no-brainer! I’ve since booked three tickets for my husband, my mother and myself to see Ed play live next June and I cannot wait!
Giggles With Gary Meikle
After booking tickets to see Gary Meikle way back in early 2020, covid put a stop to our plans and the gig was then rescheduled at least three times before we were finally able to watch Gary play live in Carlisle earlier this month. It was our first time ‘out out’ since November 2019 and it was great to finally get out, to enjoy a live performance and to experience ‘normality’ for what felt like the first time in forever. Gary was hilarious (as always) and as a bonus, we got to meet up with him following the gig and to take a few snaps before heading home.
Brace Yourselves
Having spent the past six months or so wearing block braces, J had a follow-up appointment at the orthodontist who confirmed that due to J’s perseverance and persistence the braces have now done their job and he will shortly be able to upgrade to permanently fixed braces. If all goes to plan, this time next year J should be just about out of braces and his teeth should be super straight – Yay!
Happy Harumika
E received a Harumika fashion set as part of her birthday gifts back in August, since then she has collected various pieces of ribbon, material, buttons and such-like and has been adding to her ever-growing Harumika fashion set (which has since been upgraded from being stored in a small bag into a much larger plastic container). E is mad about all things fashion orientated and spent last weekend holding a two-hour fashion parade and competition with her Nana – I’m so glad that I hit eBay and added to her models, dolls, and such-like as it’s been a real hit!
Hats Off To You
I spotted some sparkly ‘initial logo hats’ whilst out shopping earlier this week and treated E and I to some matching woollens for the winter.
Cracking On With Christmas Cake
E and my Mum have been busy baking Christmas cakes ready for December and having walked into the kitchen following their efforts, I must say the smell was divine! I for one cannot wait to sample their seasonal goodies.
Diet Action
It’s probably not the best time of year to start a diet but I’ve been doing my best to cut down on the cr*p of late. I’m not sure as to whether I’ve lost all that much weight as my weighing scales broke (that sounds as if I stood on them and broke them but that’s not the case…) some time ago and I haven’t had the inclination to replace them. I have however noticed that my skin is looking a lot better and I feel a little better in myself so that’s at least a start.
Ocean To Ocean
Tori’s latest album ‘Ocean to Ocean’ was released this month and having preordered the CD and set up alerts on Alexa to listen to the tracks the very moment that they were released I was counting down the days until Tori’s new album. Though Tori’s music has mellowed somewhat over the years, it’s still incredibly beautiful, and very meaningful to me as this particular album focuses on the loss of a parent, something I can very much relate to with having lost my Dad almost a year back.
Halloween
It has to be one of the wettest Halloween‘s on record, I’ve never known a Halloween like it before! The rain has been torrential and unforgiving thus we’ve endured some severe flooding in our local area, and as a result, three (or possibly more?) bridges have been closed to the public. This technically isolates my home town much like an island thus it’s a little worrying especially given that the local hospital is a fifty-minute drive away (a journey that would require crossing one of the aforementioned bridges). Here’s hoping that once the weather dries up a little, things can return back to ‘normal’.
Half Term
Though it’s been one of the wettest half-term holidays on record, we’ve at least had seven days to rest, relax and spend time together as a family and for that I’m thankful. It’s such a shame about the miserable, wet, weather but we’ve crafted, baked, watched movies, rested, relaxed and enjoyed an hour or two trick or treating before we were washed out with yet another downpour.
