Whilst autumn is my favourite season, this year it just feels so far from normal that I’ve not been able to enjoy it as much as I would have liked. I have however learnt to appreciate the little things in life, as they truly do seem to make the bigger picture so much brighter during such a dull and dreary time.
Though I feel somewhat guilty for listing the things which I have #LikedandLoved during such a tragic time, I will continue to carry out these monthly posts if only to look upon the brighter side of life.
Hello Halloween
Though we’ve been unable to visit local tourist attractions or to go on our annual neighbourhood ‘trick or treating’ trek, we’ve made the most of Halloween by decorating the house, dressing the kids in creepy costumes, crafting, playing games and watching movies with sweet treats as a family.
Stepping Up In The Kitchen
With the kids being so keen to roll up their sleeves in the kitchen, we’ve invested in a little wooden step to bring E to counter height. Back in the day, the kids used a kitchen helper- this is now redundant as both J and E grew a little too tall to use it. However, despite growing like a weed E is still a little too small for counterheight…thus she now has a ‘step up‘ in the kitchen.
Going Grey
Though I love our ensuite extension, I’ve never been all that keen on the mirror which the builders originally fitted as it seemed to cloud and gather black marks around the edges. Thankfully Paul purchased a replacement which he has since fitted and not only do we have a mirror but also a storage cabinet to hide away the stuff from around the sink- we also have a matching toilet roll stand to boot!
Tarot-iffic!
This month saw the arrival of The Star Seeker Tarot (a deck which I have waiting upon for months now), The Star Tarot, The Bonefire Tarot and two beautiful little drawstring tarot bags for storage purposes.
It’s certainly been a tarot-iffic month and I’m rather happy dealing with all my lovely new decks!
Keeping Cosy In Cardigans
With winter edging ever closer, I’ve purchased a few new cardigans to keep me cosy whilst out and about.
Pretty In Pink
Though My Mother suggested that wearing baby-pink may make me look alike to Miss Piggy, I’m rather fond of my brand new baby-pink coat which arrived this month. It’s comfortable, cute and WARM which is all that really matters during the winter months.
Girl Time
This month saw me reduce my working hours from five days down to three, this has enabled me to gain some sort of balance and I’m rather enjoying being able to take and collect my daughter to and from school two days a week and being able and available to spend some time with her in the afternoons.
Upcyclcing
Hindsight is a wonderful thing isnt it? Looking back I wish we’d spent a little more on our bedroom furniture rather than relying on Argos’s cheap and cheerful collection for wardrobes, drawers and our dressing table. Three years on half of that furniture is sadly scratched and warped which I guess I should have expected considering it’s price. However, I recently came accross this rather beautiful upcycled dressing table on Facebook marketplace which I simply couldn’t resist. Paul has kindly painted my dressing table chair to match and after repainting and glossing the table I’m pretty pleased with the result.
Half Term Holidays
After eight weeks of school the kids and us adults were more than ready for a half-term holiday and though we’ve not done an awful lot, it’s been great just to enjoy a little downtime.
Christmas is Cracked
We’ve not even had Hallowen but already I’ve got Christmas cracked this year. With all that’s going on with my Dad and everything else in the World, I just know I need to be organised and thanks to Amazon Prime I’ve been just that! Other than writing cards and creating calendars I’ve not a whole lot to do now which is a relief!
