And just like that October has come to a close. It’s been a busy and extremely expensive month for us but we’ve sure had some fun – here are a few of the things that I have #LikedandLoved during the month.
The Half Term Holidays
Autumn brought the half-term holidays, a much-needed break from the daily grind. Whilst we didn’t do an awful lot, we had a wonderful week filled with rest, relaxation and family fun.
The Bling Is Back!
Back in September I discovered that I was a diamond down. My husband very kindly took my wedding ring along to our local jewellers and a month later my bling is finally back. I felt so naked without my wedding band, it’s so lovely to have it back, fully repaired and where it belongs.
Halloween
Halloween is one of our favorite holidays, the kids love getting styled to scare. Both J & E were treated to new costumes this year – E grew fangs and became a vampire whilst J continued with his love for cartoons as he became Bendy.
Pumpkin Carving
Every year the kids collect a pumpkin each (usually from their grandparent’s farm) and they then create designs to carve their creepy creations from. This year E wished for a puddy-cat pumpkin meanwhile J kept things simple with a scary smile.
Spooky Style
Back in the day, I’d put a few decorations in the window for Halloween whereas now I tend to go a little overboard with decorations. We put the decorations up a week or so beforehand to make the most of the event.
This year we added further frightful decor to our ever-growing collection and I’ve spent some time decorating around the house with our ghoulish goodies.
The Brand New Bay Window & Blinds
We’ve needed new windows for quite some time, especially a new bay window as our living room window had blown and looked much like a steamy shower screen. Earlier this month we finally replaced our bay window and following this, we ordered and put up new blinds.
Put together with the new curtains, new blinds and of course, the window – the living room looks really luxurious!
A Marvellous Mattress
We’ve spent the past two or more years sleeping on what I can only describe as the world’s most uncomfortable mattress. Having finally had enough of struggling with springs attacking us during our sleep, we invested in a brand new Vesgantti spring-sprung and memory foam mattress.
I’m not used to sleeping on such a comfortable and cozy mattress, it’s like laying on a marshmallow! Here’s hoping that with time my shoulder will stop aching quite so much and I might be able to start sleeping soundly.
Making Music
It’s not only J taking music lessons but as of earlier this month, E is also learning an instrument! I’ve been itching to teach E since she was little, this month I finally convinced her to give it and go, it’s so lovely to see both J & E enjoying and eagar to learn Music.
After School Activities
I’ve been meaning to sign J and E up for after-school activities for a little while now. Neither J nor E seemed all that bothered about extracurricular activities.
This month, however, E began gymnastics whilst J started at Art Lab. Both J & E are really enjoying their after-school activities, meanwhile, I get to enjoy a little quiet time…
Brews With My Bestie
It’s not often that D and I have the chance to get together – we are both so busy with kids, work and life in general. Once over we’d catch up for coffee on a weekly or sometimes daily basis, I miss those days but it’s great when we actually get the chance to get together which we finally managed earlier this month.
