And just like that we’ve reached the end of October! It’s been a fun-filled, action packed month which may have been exhausting at times but was certainly worth the effort. Here are a few of the things that I have ‘Liked and Loved‘ throughout October 2017.
London Grammar Live
Back in August my parents spoilt me with two tickets to see London Grammar play live at The Manchester Apollo. Having waited for what felt like forever Paul and I finally travelled down the M6 to watch this amazing band put on one of the most incredible shows I have ever watched.
Tori Amos
Since the age of seven I’ve been fanatical about Tori Amos, I have seen Tori play live countless times in a range of venues over the years. Earlier this month Paul and I travelled to Manchester to see this lovely lady play live at The Palace Theatre, a venue which was new to us but seemed to suit Tori down to the ground.
According to Tori, Manchester is one her favoured venues to play and as always she was in fantastic form. It doesn’t matter how many times I have watched this woman play live she never fails to wow me!
Jason Manford
Paul and I are both big fans of comedy, we’ve watched a fair amount of comedians live on stage over the years and a couple of weeks ago we had the pleasure of both watching and meeting Jason Manford play live at our local theatre.
The Family Wedding
I’ve probably bored my readers senseless with the endless posts regarding our recent family wedding. Should you have missed the memo per chance, J was very kindly asked to be a Page Boy whereas E along with her two cousins were asked to be Flower Girls.
It was a fantastic day and everybody involved (especially the happy couple) looked amazing! I was so proud of our little ones all dressed up whilst carrying their bouquets as they followed their Auntie down the aisle, it was a serious ‘lump in the throat’ moment!
Pampering (Hair & Massage)
Despite the endless outings I have somehow managed to fit in a fair amount of ‘me time’ over the past few weeks including a rather luxurious massage carried out by my good friend Amber and a total hair transformation as I had a cut, colour and re-style by Anne.
Yoga
I’ve always quite fancied giving Yoga a go but wasn’t sure whether my physical ability would stretch that far or whether there were any classes close by. As it turns out one of my friends whom is a regular punter at the pub in which I work leads weekly Yoga sessions around the area which I began attending last week.
After only a single session I was hooked and very quickly ordered myself a mat which I will be taking along with me tomorrow night for my second Yoga session.
Half Term Holiday Fun
The half term holidays seemed to whizz by at warp speed. Paul and I kept the children on their toes with trips out to the local swimming baths, cinema, soft play centre, shops and play parks. It was great to spend some quality time together as a family not only out and about but also indoors watching movies, drawing, painting, making models, playing board games and having all kinds of fun.
E Leant To Write Her Name
E often sits by my side busying herself with drawing or such-like as I tap away at the keyboard whilst writing blog posts or catching up on my emails. Earlier this week whilst she sat with her notepad and pen E very proudly showed me her attempt at writing her name, this is something that I’ve wanted her to learn for time now and was incredibly proud to see.
E seems to really enjoy drawing and writing and although she is left-handed she seems to have fantastic pencil control. I was so proud so see her writing her own name although the letters may not be entirely legible I can read it just fine and am quite literally over the moon with her progress.
Halloween
The kids were really excited about Halloween this year, we’ve spent the past few days decorating the house ready for the occasion, watching creepy films, reading spooky books, playing ghoulish games and getting ourselves in the mood for All Hallows Eve.
This evening the children dressed up in their costumes and had their faces painted ready to go out trick or treating around our local area. They were spoilt rotten with sweet treats from almost every household they visited and had an absolutely spooktacular night.
All Things Shiny & New
Whilst we’ve spent the past month enjoying endless activities we have also suffered with a bout of the Gremlins in and around the house. I managed to introduce the car to a wall, the washing machine decided to spring a leak, Paul’s vape drowned whilst on a wet walk home, the washing basket collapsed and broke, tax credits very kindly informed us that they had overpaid us and as a result we are now repaying them £20 per month for the next six sodding years, E slipped backwards from our bed and put her head straight through a plaster board wall in our bedroom and on top of all that we were given devastating news regarding our much-loved, basset hound Molly.
Thankfully Molly is still with us for the time being and we’ve managed to fix and replace many of the breakages. The car was promptly given a makeover by a local mechanic, we then repaired the washing machine and found ourselves quids up as it turned out that the issue was J’s loose change. Paul replaced his vape with a set of matching ‘Mr & Mrs’ colourful vape units for us both, I’ve picked up a replacement washing basket which fits perfectly with our bedroom and whilst treating myself to ‘shiny, new stuff’ I’ve also given my blog a makeover with the Aruba nights theme, a recent purchase from Pipdig.
Along with the above I’ve also managed to bag quite a few bargains over the past month including a gold clutch bag, a pair of soft pink suede heels, numerous hair accessories and a couple of Christmas present for the kidlets.
It may have been one of the most expensive months we’ve had so far this year with hotel stays, trips away, days out, nights out, replacing breakages and other random expenses but we’ve had heaps of fun and it’s all been well worth the effort and expense.
