Here we are at the end of November already, with Christmas just around the corner it’s certainly a busy time of the year and there’s been plenty going on especially so over the past month. Here’s a few of the many things which I have #LikedandLoved throughout November.
Bonfire Night
I am a huge fan of fireworks, they may be explosive and somewhat dangerous but they are just so magical! As always, my family and I went to two firework displays within the first week of November, both of which were great fun.
Freya Ridings
Having listened to Freya Riding’s live album on Alexa I couldn’t wait to get my hands on tickets to see her live for myself. Earlier this month my husband and I went to watch Freya play live in Manchester – she was exactly as I had expected – amazing!
The Dickensian Festival
Each year, my family and I visit the local Dickensian Festival; a busy, bustling, festive family event that marks the start of the Christmas countdown. The children usually browse through the Christmas markets before riding the helter-skelter along. However, the helter-skelter wasn’t there this year so we took them both to see Santa Claus finishing what was a fabulous day out.
Building A Bed
Being the little sister, E tends to get a lot of J’s ‘hand-me-downs’ including his mid-sleeper bed with a tent, tower, tunnel, and slide. Over the years the mid-sleeper got some serious hammering and although E loved sliding out of bed each morning, it was time to give her an upgrade.
After informing us that she’s keen on having a television in her room (which is what she hopes Santa may bring this year) we realised that this would require a desk to be placed upon. After scouring the internet for what felt like forever I finally found a ‘nearly-new’ high sleeper bed with a desk, sofa and pull out futon should our little lady ever have a friend to stay over for the night.
Having successfully collected the bed from Southport, we then spent many hours building said bed which wasn’t easy nor simple as the instructions stated.
Our little lady is overjoyed with her new bed, desk and of course sofa which she has covered with a pink, fluffy blanket and her vast collection of cuddly toys.
A New Set of Springs
Having bought E a new bed, we decided it was time to purchase a new mattress not only for the Princess but also for her big brother who was complaining that his previous mattress felt lumpy. After finding a really good price online, I ordered two matching mattresses which arrived the following day. The kids are now comfortable and cosy in their beds – let’s hope that it stays this way as I quite like my sleep!
A Grand Age
Towards the end of this month, my husbands Nana turned the grand age of 101! It was really nice to pop up and see her on her birthday, you really wouldn’t know that this legend of a lady is anything over 80, she’s such an incredible woman.
Dining With Dee
It’s not often that I get together with my bestie, and when we do get together it’s usually at each other’s houses for a brew and the banter. However, we made a promise to ourselves to go out for an evening which is exactly what we did this week.
I booked a table for two at our local bistro, where we enjoyed drinks and a meal out before having drinks at the Ski Bar. It was great to catch up, we really must do it more often!
A Trip To The Cinema
Our little lady has been waiting for some time to see the latest Frozen installment, last weekend as promised, we took E and her brother to watch Frozen 2 at the cinema. Whilst the film wasn’t all that, the soundtracks pretty awesome and E was ecstatic to be reunited with Elsa, Anna and of course, Olaf.
Family Matters
Earlier this month my brother-in-law and his family traveled up north to see us. Although the kids were struck down with sickness, it was great to see them all and to catch up. Hopefully, come Christmas we will get to all again only with a lot more wine and without any ailments.
The Christmas Countdown
Christmas is only weeks away. I, however, have been counting down for some time. I tend to start my shopping around September time and by November I liked to be pretty much done and dusted in terms of shopping.
Unlike some, my decorations remain in the attic until December is actually upon us. Although, I am all for the festive films and food from mid-November onwards. What does it matter how many mince pies and glasses of Baileys you’ve devoured before December? Let’s just say that it’s been a ‘Nibbly November’ and I couldn’t care less about the calories!
