So it’s the end of May already, I can’t quite believe another month has passed us by so quickly yet here we are. Time waits for no man nor woman for that matter. As always, I have put together a list of the top ten things that I have #LikedandLoved from the past thirty-odd days; it’s always nice to share the positive points from each month and I hope that one day we can look back on some of our happier memories with a smile.
Fabulously Fourteen
J turned fourteen this month and to celebrate he spent the day with family having a few drinks and eating cake in the sunshine. He was spoilt rotten with balloons, gifts, and cards galore and has been entertained with various gadgets and gizmos ever since.
Swimming At The Sandcastle
We traveled to Blackpool for an afternoon’s swimming at the Sandcastle Waterpark as part of J’s birthday bash. The sun was shining, there was barely a breeze as we walked down the prom, and after three hours of family fun swimming, sliding, and generally exhausting ourselves, we had a smooth journey home arriving back just in time for tea.
Coronation Caper
We enjoyed a fabulous family BBQ to celebrate the King’s coronation. Though the weather was said to be wet and the clouds certainly threatened rain from time to time, we managed to stay dry, and we were even graced with some summer sun whilst tucking into our burgers and sausages.
Brilliant Bank Holidays
May has been a bit of a bizarre month in terms of Mondays as we had not one, not two, but THREE bank holiday Mondays fall within the same month. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a day off here and there but given that I work part-time it threw my schedule slightly, especially in terms of my teaching and planning. Still, we enjoyed our lengthy weekends and will no doubt miss those Mondays come next month.
Half Term Holidays
Half term has arrived leaving us with only seven weeks before the summer holidays. Whilst I’m looking forward to the summer break, I’m very aware that I’ve got a whole heap to do before then thus I’m finding the speed at which time seems to be passing somewhat alarming at present. Whilst we’d usually make plans for the half-term holidays, we’ve opted for a relaxed week in order to save our energy and to save some pennies.
Snip & Style
To save time and effort E and I often book our haircuts together; this time around we were well overdue for a snip and style and I could hardly believe the amount of hair residing on the salon floor following the ‘summer snip’.
Disney Dreamlight Valley
Having completed Animal Crossing quite some time ago, I’ve been on the hunt for a sim-style game for my Switch for a little while now. After reading recommendations I treated myself to Disney’s Dreamlight Valley and I’ve got to say it’s as close to Animal Crossing as you’re going to get only with an extra level of addiction to gameplay.
Eurovision
Paul and I tend not to bother watching the Eurovision Song Contest as it’s not something that really piques our interest. However, our daughter decided otherwise this month, and having watched the entirety of the show from start to finish she’s since had various entries/ songs on repeat via Alexa each and every day.
Radical Raku
E and I enjoyed a day out (with some of her school friends) taking part in a Raku Pottery workshop. It was an incredible day both in terms of the weather and of course, the workshop. E got to glaze, fire, and produce three pots (two of which she’s brought home which are now proudly displayed in her bedroom) as well as spend an afternoon watercolour painting in a beautiful meadow. It really was idyllic!
Little Loves
Though I’ve partaken in the #LittleLoves linky for many years now, I’ve never before hosted this linky thus was honored to be ‘handed the baton and am rather excited at the concept of hosting this much-loved linky on the final Friday of each and every month – I’d love to see you there!
