And so here we are at the end of another month but unlike most months, which flash by in the blink of an eye, May seems to have been somewhat slower going. I’m not sure whether it’s down to the endless wet weather or the fact that we’ve just had so much to do, either way, it’s been tiring and busy thus a little lengthy. So without further ado, here are a few of the things which I have #LikedandLoved throughout the past thirty-one days.
J Turned Twelve
God help us as this time next year we will have a teenager in the house – though I’ll be honest, from appearances (in terms of height and maturity) you’d most likely think that J was already in his late teens. Still, we celebrated his twelfth birthday in style with not one but two cakes, a trip to the Tree Top Nets and of course, he was spoilt with gifts galore.
The TreeTop Nets
To celebrate J’s big day we took a trip to the Tree Top Nets where we bounced around for two hours enjoying what was our first family trip ‘out’ in almost eighteen months!
Vaccinations
Having waited for what feels like forever, Paul and I were finally given our first shot of the Pfizer vaccine, which thankfully neither of us suffered any side effects from (other than an achy arm). We have already booked our second shots for early August and I for one cannot wait to have completed the vaccinations and to be able to feel safer in society.
Time For A New Television
Earlier in the month, E came home from school with a raging temperature and a very sore tummy. Having phoned 111 and established a plan, we took her for a PCR test (for which she thankfully tested negative) and we then set about keeping her cool, calm and comfortable in our bedroom where she was relaxing, resting and recuperating whilst watching our television. However, midway through Mary Poppins our Samsung Smart TV randomly stopped working and we were left without a television. This month, therefore, saw us purchasing a replacement forty-three-inch Sharp television which has since arrived and been fitted to the wall and what a difference it has made to our bedroom binge-watching!
The Summer House
It’s been a labour of love for Paul this month as he’s grafted for hours through the endless downpours of rain, hail, sleet, and even snow to complete putting together and painting our brand new shed and summer house. Now it’s all done and dusted I must say it’s made a massive difference to our storage space as we now have a clear garage, a clear stairwell and a clear porch, Yay!
Super Storage Solutions
Last month I ordered some shelving and storage solutions from IKEA specifically for the purpose of storing and displaying my many divination decks. The furniture has since arrived and has been put together in the office, the result of which looks incredible!
Brilliant Bouncing
Both J & E love to bounce, especially J who will bounce for hours on end on his beloved trampoline. To celebrate the end of school (which they weren’t attending at the time due to covid) last summer we replaced what was a rather tired trampoline with a brand new 10ft Zero Gravity Trampoline, and it has been fantastic until last month when we noticed that the legs were beginning to bend thus making bouncing a little hazardous.
I contacted Zero Gravity to let them know our issues and they were fantastic, swiftly replacing our less than twelve-month old trampoline with legs specifically designed to withstand bouncing on astroturf The new trampoline has since been built and placed in our garden and the kids are now back to bouncing.
A Pretty Porch Space
It’s been almost ten years since we moved into the house in which we currently live, and for the entirety of that time, we’ve hung our coats in the front porchway. This has made the tiny little room into which we enter the house rather cluttered and it was beginning to annoy me. Since we recently built a summer house, Paul has been able to clear what was stored under our stairs into this space and as a result, I’ve been able to move the piles of coats, jackets, scarves and such-like under our stairwell and to clear our porchway entirely. We now have a clean, tidy, and rather pretty porchway which at last, I’m pleased with.
Back To Boots
Having worn my previous boots till the leather had worn thin, I finally replaced my worn but wonderfully comfortable footwear with some brand new, black, suede boots. Trust me to buy brand new boots just as the sun makes an appearance, though I’m sure that they will come in handy in the autumn.
Bashing Blocks With Beat Saber
J was spoilt rotten for his birthday this year with numerous gifts including an incredible Oculus Quest 2 VR console. Having seen how much fun he’d been having swinging and waving his arms around, I wanted to give it a go myself and now I too am an addict, a Beat Saber addict! Half an hour a day dancing around adds a heck of an increase to my step count and it’s so much fun, especially now that we have downloaded the Linkin Park pack!
