To say that May has been manic is an understatement! We haven’t stopped and I’m quite literally ready to drop. Saying that we’ve had some awesome events and some fantastic family time – here are a few of the many things which I have #LikedandLoved throughout the past month.
New Phone Day
My husband and I were both using rather outdated mobile phones, both of which we fancied upgrading and given that we were offered a super double-deal we couldn’t resist. We are now the proud owners of two top-of-the-range handsets – an IPhone XS Max and a Samsung Note 9.
TreeTop Parties
With J turning ten-years-old, we celebrated by taking him and two of his friends (and his sister of course) to the TreeTop Nets for a day out bouncing around. The kids had an incredible couple of hours, although us adults found that our legs were a little achy the following day.
J Turned Double Digits
I can barely believe that our little man is now ten years old! Where on earth has that time gone to? Indeed, J is now ‘double digits’ thus heading for his final year in primary school and creeping towards the dreaded teenage years…
Cow Cakes
When my son was born his Uncle Robbie very kindly bought him a cute, fluffy cow from the Jellycat company. This cow soon became his much-loved bed buddy and has been J’s firm-favorite ever since. As he turned ten years old this month, he requested a cow cake which I had very little time to put together but I somehow managed to pull out of the bag (or should I say farm?).
Hen Party Weekend
My friends are due to get married in three weeks time and to mark this event she arranged for us to visit the beautiful city of Leeds on a Hen Do. Whilst there we toured around the Emmerdale Experience before heading out for an Italian meal and a night on the town. My Mum very kindly came with me to fill a space on the bus and we had a rare night us just us girls.
Pulling A Final Pint
As the pub in which I worked for many, many, many years is due to change hands, the owners decided to hold a final beer festival, which I arranged for a number of previous staff to attend and to assist within. I, therefore, carried out one final shift before the bar and pulled a final pint… I’ll be sad to see the pub change hands but I guess things change.
Cards Against Disney
Being a huge fan of the original ‘Cards Against Humanity’ game I couldn’t help but notice a new pack release based upon Disney. Being a Disney Diva, I had to have the ‘Cards Against Disney’ pack! Paul and I have since played ‘Cards Against Disney’ (obviously not with the children present) and it is utterly hilarious and provides fantastic entertainment for our many nights in.
Drum Roll Please
As J has recently started to learn how to play the drums, we decided to invest in a digital drum kit as his main birthday gift. This seems to have proved rather popular and despite being unable to fit into his bedroom, we’ve squeezed it into the study and whilst J seems pretty pleased with our purchase, we too have rather enjoyed having the odd bash about.
Residential
Whilst I tend not to discuss work-related issues on my blog, I simply had to mention the recent residential to ‘Great Tower Scout Centre’ which I attended. It was such a welcome break to be able to venture around the woodlands carrying out a range of outdoor based activities rather than sticking to the daily grind. Whilst the weather wasn’t ideal – the scenery was simply stunning and I couldn’t help but fall in love with Lakes all over again.
Half Term
After what has been a ‘Manic May’ we finally broke up for half term on Friday. I cannot tell you how much I was in need of a holiday, I was utterly exhausted and couldn’t wait to put my feet up. As you can imagine I’ve lined up all sorts of activities and jobs to get done throughout the holidays thus we are having a limited amount of rest. However, it’s certainly a well-deserved break from the norm.
