So here we are at the end of another month, March sure has flown by! What with the return to school, work, and our regular routine, alongside a plethora of celebrations dotted in and around each week, it’s been a mad but marvelously busy month. Here are a few of the things which I have #LikedandLoved throughout March.
Back To School
After spending almost three months working from home, J & E finally returned to their classrooms, and though I was rather anxious (and still remain very cautious) regarding their return during the pandemic, I’m glad that the kids have been able to grasp a little normality and to see their friends at least.
Mother’s Day
I was spoilt rotten with cards, flowers, chocolates, and a tipple or two for Mother’s Day. The kids sure know how to make my heart melt – especially little E as she seems to know exactly the words to write to pull on my heartstrings. Bless them both – they made the day incredibly special.
Mums Birthday
Given all that we’ve been through over the past twelve months, I knew that Mum wasn’t all that keen on the idea of celebrating her birthday. However, I didn’t want her missing out on celebrating a significant event (and a significant number!) and so I put together a ‘high tea spread’ where Mum was surrounded by cake and balloons, and I even persuaded my Mother into braving a dip in the hot tub so that she could kick back and relax for the afternoon.
World Book Day
Though World Book Day was technically prior to the school return, E celebrated in style both at home and at school a week later by dressing as the Worst Witch. Our little lady loves getting dressed up in costumes and so it was a joy to see her combining her love for fashion alongside her love for literacy for the day.
The Perfect Pergola
After weeks of drilling, sanding, hammering, nailing, and working till all ours outside, our pergola is finally finished and I have to say that my husband has done an incredible job! We’ve since decorated the pergola with some string lights (which have been plugged into a wireless socket that can be controlled by Alexa) to complete the look – It’s super swish and I’m so pleased with the outcome.
Kitchen Dream Designs
Though we had intended to have a new kitchen fitted way before now, life got in the way a little, and to be honest – I didn’t care less what my kitchen looked like this time last year, or even if I had a kitchen at all as my focus was elsewhere and rightly so. This year, however, I’m keen for a fresh start and part of that is to get the house how we’ve always wanted it. This month we had Howden’s visit to measure up and to create a kitchen design for us, and I’ve since booked a builder for the summer to make our dreams a reality.
Window Wonders
We’ve waited for what feels like forever for our new windows but with lockdown and shipping issues, the rosewood windows which we so desired were unfortunately unavailable. However, this month I decided to call a different glazer, and low and behold – we will be getting the rosewood windows we’ve wanted for a few years now fitted in the next month or two. Everything seems to be happening at once which is a little overwhelming but it’ll all be worth it in the end.
Sindy Success
Having emptied her attic, my Mum came across my childhood Sindy house. Though she had originally intended on selling the Sindyhouse, I convinced her otherwise and I’m so glad as my daughter was beyond delighted to see the house put together and of course, to play with the contents. It was so sweet seeing my little lady playing with my childhood toys – it’s been a real ‘Sindy Success!’.
Super Summerhouses
Having only just finished perfecting his pergola, already Paul is onto his next project. This weekend he ordered the Chelsea Summerhouse and side shed which should hopefully be arriving in early May, and in terms of excitement he’s like a kid at Christmas – what is it with men and DIY?!
Springing Forward In Time
I don’t know about you but I wasn’t half glad to see those clocks leap forward by an hour this weekend. Sure, I may have missed out on an hour’s sleep but it’s totally worth it as I cannot wait for the lighter nights ahead.
