As March comes to a close, I’ve spent a little time looking back upon the past month gone by. So much has altered and changed that my life as I knew it is barely recognisable.
As always I will endeavour to share some of the many things which I have ‘Liked and Loved‘ throughout the past month.
Getting Back Into The Classroom
As you may have read in my previous instalment of ‘Liked and Loved’, I was recently offered a temporary ‘Teaching Assistant’ role which I have continued to carry out over the past few weeks. I have since gone on to apply for a contracted position which I was successful in attaining. I cannot tell you how much this means to me, I’ve literally spent the past two or three years dreaming about getting back into the classroom and now my dreams have become a reality.
Kissing Goodbye To The Barmaid
Now that I am working throughout the week I simply do not have the time nor the energy to work behind the bar. I gave working two jobs a go for a little while but I was most certainly burning the candle at both ends.
To avoid burn out I handed my notice in at the bar and finished my final shift last weekend. It was a strange feeling pulling pints for one final time. Having finished my final shift I then walked around the bar where I was joined by my family and friends to celebrate ‘new beginnings’.
Without a doubt I will be sure to miss working behind the bar, that said I won’t miss the late nights nor the washing up. However, I have very fond memories of the staff, customers and times whilst working at the pub and will be sure to pop in as a customer myself from time to time.
Snow!
We have had a fair few flurries of snow throughout the past month. The weather wasn’t particularly perfect for sledging but despite it being bitterly cold, the kids got out and about for a play in the white stuff.
Getting Back To Blading
After taking the kids along to the local roller/ scooting disco I decided to give it a go for myself. Having found myself a pair of bargain blades I then took these beauties along to the disco where I got ‘back on the blades‘ for the first time in almost twenty years!
I have to say, I was half expecting to fall flat on my face or to break a few bones. Surprisingly I seemed a rather sturdy and stylish skater which considering that I’ve spent the past two decades without wheels (unless you count driving a car) was pretty impressive!
Bargain Boots
Whilst I tend to live in my Ugg boots, I am well aware that I cannot go on doing so as Spring has sprung and the weather will only get warmer. I have therefore found a couple of pairs of boots online which I plan to wear to work for the next few months until Summer arrives and the sandals come out to play.
Family Time
With having my weekends and evenings free I am now able to spend far more time having fun with my family. Earlier this month we celebrated ‘Mothers Day‘ and I for one was spoilt rotten with gifts galore including new walking boots, a suitcase and the mandatory Terry’s Orange. I had a fantastic day, as did the kids as we took them to their Nana and Grandad’s for Sunday lunch and plenty of play.
These two little angels/ devils are amazing little people and I cannot wait to spend all of my evenings and weekends being at their beck and call.
Meeting Maisy
As you may have previously read, Paul and I are about to add a further four paws to our household. Earlier this month we travelled down to Wigan where we met the marvellous Maisy, our soon to be basset hound.
We had a fantastic day meeting Jeanette and Ian along with their amazing pack of hounds, all of which melted our heart. This time next week Maisy will be here with us and I for one cannot wait!
Spring Has Sprung
We may have the odd flurry of snow now and then but Spring has most certainly sprung. The clocks jumped forward by an hour last week bringing on the light nights and days spent lazing on the decking.
Spring is such a fabulous time of year, everything feels so fresh and new!
My First Tropic Party
My sister-in-law recently became an ambassador for ‘Tropic’; a cruelty-free, natural, vegan cosmetics brand which receives raving reviews. To help her make a start upon ‘business’ I threw a party for my family and friends which was a huge success and greatly enjoyed by all.
Fun With Friends
With having the kids it’s not often that Paul or I get to go out these days. In order to make socialising ‘possible for parents’ we held a small get together for our friends. This may have been a basic ‘fish and chip supper’ followed by far too many to drink kind of evening, but nonetheless we had a lot of laughs and will be sure to repeat a similar sort of shindig in the near future.

What an adorable puppy! I know that feeling of pulling your last pint! I worked behind bars until January 2015 when I started working more at my nursery job! x
Oh my word Maisy is just beautiful! I’ll look forward to some puppy spam 🙂 Well done on getting a more permanent position in the classroom, that must feel ace! Thanks for joining in with #LikedandLoved again
