April has flown by in the blink of an eye, I’m not entirely sure whether or not we’ve done a whole lot but I certainly feel that Paul and I have put our best efforts into making some changes certainly in terms of the garden and such like. Heres a list of some of the things that I have #Liked and Loved during April.
My Princess Is Going To School!
With E turning four-years old this year she will of course be following her brother and heading off to Primary School.
As much as my heart breaks at the thought our little lady packing her school bag and heading off into the land of Education I am over the moon that we at least acquired a place for our Princess at her school of choice. Come September our little lady is a school girl and I for one couldn’t be prouder!
Tickets!
Having being alerted to the fact that two of my favourite artists just happened to be touring I of course couldn’t help but to scour the internet for tickets. I set about buying tickets to see Jason Manford earlier the other week but found myself faced with the screen of doom… Having telephoned the venue I was then told tickets had sold out and was rather put out to say the least. Luckily I just happen to know people in the right places and one week later had two fairly well located tickets to see Mr Manford for October.
Shortly after acquiring what felt like gold dust I then found myself bartering in the ultimate raffle, an online scramble to select and purchase tickets to see Tori Amos, my all time favourite artist in Manchester also in October.
Having pressed enter and ‘buy’ numerous times to be met with yet another screen of doom I was practically banging my head against the keyboard. Luckily Paypal saved the day and I am now the proud owner of two tickets to see Tori in all her glory.
Weight Loss
Somehow I have miraculously managed to lose almost a stone over the past month simply by cutting portion sizes down by almost three-quarters of the amount, cutting out meals here and there and generally skimping on food.
Food seems to have been replaced by wine and somehow it seems to be working for me. As a result of my miraculous weight loss I have found myself able to squeeze into some pretty skimpy tops which has felt awesome to say the least.
Pauls Birthday
My wonderful husband turned the grand old age of thirty-four earlier this month. We celebrated by having a well-deserved night out with friends followed by a trip to the swimming baths the following day with the kids of course.
A wave machine would hardly be worth it without the addition of a three-year old screeching in your lug hole whilst grasping onto a random piece of green plastic she’s found whilst on the slide claiming that it’s the heart of Tahiti from Moana. Whatever floats her boat…
Lowther Castle
During the Easter holidays we had a rare day out as a family to Lowther Castle, a recently restored ruin which has since had a humongous play park built on site to keep the entire family entertained.
We began the day by hunting for dragon eggs of all colours and kinds then found ourselves wedged deep within the ‘Lost Castle’ AKA the adventure playground where Paul and I spent time squeezing ourselves into tubes, tunnels and slides probably designed for toddlers and swinging on random equipment whilst trying to snap a selfie without falling flat on our face. Despite the never-ending toilet stops during the journey and our wallets weighing three pounds lighter, much fun was had.
Garden Progress
Having discussed our plans for the garden Paul finally picked up his shovel and made a start on the jungle that is our garden. He and his Father have managed to successfully move the shed and to create a platform on which the shed and green house will soon be moved to.
We are then planning to order fake grass to cover the jungle and decking to disguise the patio. Hopefully with a little more work and a whole lot of tweaking we can frap out the deck chairs and get the party started!
New Clothes
As I said above I’ve managed to drop a few pounds and have since been able to fit into clothes which were once a fantasy and have recently become a reality. I have therefore splashed the cash just a little and treated myself to a much-needed wardrobe update.
I haven’t spent loads don’t get me wrong, as you know this girls loves a bargain and I’ve certainly had a few of those in the past month let me tell you! From dresses to jumpers to tunics to tops… my wardrobe is packed to the rafters!
New Blinds
Paul and I have been hoping to fit new blinds in our bedroom for a little while now but with everything else going on it’s hardly been top of our list.
We were rather lucky to be offered blinds to review thanks to my blog and have since fitted some stunning blinds in our room which has made a massive difference to our room not to mention the early ‘lights up’ wake up calls which are now a thing of the past.
Night Out With Friends
To kick off April we began by spending time with some fantastic friends as they celebrated their engagement. We had a fab night out which I must admit felt a little odd given that I found myself back in my home village, a place I never expected to return to if I’m totally honest.
However, good times were had, much drink was drunk and somehow along the lines I ended up dancing to some video game with a pack of kids. I most probably had far too much to drink but who cares? We had fun!
Family Time
Most importantly this month one of the things we managed to squeeze in was some much-needed time together as a family. It’s very rare that all of us are together without distraction of some sort.
Easter gave us almost a fortnight of family time which I for one cherished, our kids are growing fast and furiously and I for one want to treasure every moment I can.
