June has been an incredibly busy but brilliant month all in all. We’ve done so much over the past thirty days that it’s quite exhausting to look back upon. Still, here are a few of the things that I have #LikedandLoved throughout the past month.
The Half Term Holidays
June began with the much-anticipated arrival of the half-term holidays. Though the weather wasn’t all that nor did we have a great deal planned, we certainly busied ourselves with various activities throughout the week and Paul and I finally caught up on a few of the garden chores ready for the summer.
The Jubilee Weekend
There were various Jubilee celebration events held around the area, two or three of which we attended over the Jubilee weekend. This included us having a family overnight stay with my Mum to celebrate the Jubilee by attending a party in the Square followed by food and drinks gathered around the television to watch the BBC coverage from London.
Time Together & Take-Aways
We were graced with a visit from my brother-in-law and his beautiful boy earlier this month and whilst gathered as a family we indulged in drinks and some takeaway food whilst spending a few hours catching up with each other. It was great to see the kids playing in the garden and having fun together after not seeing each other for so long, it was also lovely to catch up with my brother-in-law and to spend time together as a family.
Clearing Clutter
There comes a time each year when I get the itch to raid through my children’s cupboards, drawers, and various storage boxes to get rid of the things which are no longer suited, correctly sized, or functional from their bedrooms. Whilst I’m yet to do the same for each of their wardrobes (this is an entirely different job!) my husband and I spend a few hours in each of the kids’ rooms filling bin bags and charity bags with a whole host of outgrown items.
We then vacuumed, polished and cleaned every inch of each of their rooms and it felt great to make some room and clear the clutter!
Ed Sheeran
Having booked tickets to see Ed Sheeran way back in November, I’d almost forgotten that the event was almost upon us. Finally, the day arrived for us to drop the dogs off at kennels and head to Manchester where we’d booked a last-minute hotel to see Ed play live and what an amazing night it was. Paul, my Mum and I arrived in good time at the hotel and shared sandwiches together before getting changed and grabbing a taxi to the Etihad Stadium where we arrived midafternoon and had a few drinks whilst watching the various warmup artists before Ed took to the stage.
Though my Mum had been somewhat wary about being surrounded by sixty thousand people after so long being stuck inside and shielding from the dreaded virus, that and I’m not sure that she was too keen on having to stand in the main arena area rather than be seated in the stands yet she took to the event like a duck to water. We managed to get quite close to the front and were able to see Ed playing and singing clear and up close, thus getting some amazing photographs and making some magical memories.
It truly was an amazing event, it far succeeded my expectations and I only wish we could do it all over again!
Covid Clear
We may well have had the jabs, ditched the tests, dropped our masks and mingled together as if nothing ever happened but it’s certainly not the case when it comes to Covid 19 as quite frankly, the virus has gone nowhere. If anything, it seems that numbers are increasing thus I wasn’t surprised when Paul’s persistent cough and runny nose turned out to be Coronavirus. Thankfully the symptoms weren’t too severe and Paul was able to spend the week working from home without too many issues, though it was certainly a relief when six days later he finally tested negative.
I think we are all beyond sick of Covid at this point. I for one detest being ruled by a virus by it is what it is and I wouldn’t wish for anyone to become seriously ill or to lose their life from the damned disease thus we continue to watch out for symptoms, to wear masks where required, and to test when and if we should suffer any symptoms.
Summer Sun
Though it was short-lived, we saw some beautiful weather this month and enjoyed what was the hottest day of the year so far. It was the first time in 2022 that I’ve applied suntan lotion and put a baseball cap on my little lady prior to her going to school though being in Britain it wasn’t long before the rain returned and the factor thirty was put on hiatus.
Fathers Day
Fathers Day isn’t easy for everyone, certainly not myself since losing my Dad. Despite my own heartache, I try to make the best of the day for my husband and his side of the family and am always sure to get gifts, cards, and such-like to celebrate the event. My Mum very kindly made Sunday lunch for us all which was a real treat for my husband and I as neither of us had to cook and we got to enjoy a beautiful meal with my Mum where we shared a few family memories and raised a glass to my Dad.
Sports Day
Sadly I was working during my daughter’s Sports Day this year but thankfully my husband and my Mum were there to support our little lady as she ran, jumped, and skipped to the finish line. Though E isn’t entirely keen on running or racing she certainly gave it her best and was delighted to share the news that her team had won.
Glasto’s Back!
After a three-year wait due to the pandemic, Glastonbury Festival finally returned and though I would have loved to have been there in person, I very much enjoyed watching the festivities, artists, acts, and performers from the comfort of my couch. Glastonbury Festival is very much on my bucket list and though I had hoped to experience the festival for myself prior to turning forty, it’s not likely to happen for a few years yet but I’m sure one day I’ll tick it off my ‘to do list’.
Though it was great to see and to listen to, I must admit I watched with a tear in my eye reminiscing back to the days when my Dad and I would watch the festivities together. It was great to see Glastonbury back on the box and I spent many hours watching the various performers including Skunk Anansie, George Ezra, Crowded House, Tom Walker, Robert Plant (my Fathers hero), The Pet Shop Boys, Wolf Alice, and of course Sir Paul McCartney play alongside the legendry Dave Grohl and the boss, Bruce on the Saturday night.
