Can you believe that we are at the end of June already?! Despite the pandemic making most days much like Groundhog Day, time sure seems to be whizzing by of late. It’s quite satisfying looking back at all that we’ve done over the past thirty days, so without further ado here are a few of the things which I have #LikedandLoved throughout June
The Half Term Holidays
Though it feels like a lifetime ago, half term was only three weeks back and we had such a great week. Not only did Paul and I manage to blast through a tonne of DIY and chores within the house but the weather was wonderful and we enjoyed most of our week out and about soaking up the sunshine.
Bye Bye Boiler
I’ve wanted to move our boiler from the kitchen to the garage ever since we first moved into this house back 2012. As I didn’t think it possible to move a boiler, I’d had plans made for the boiler to be boxed into our new kitchen design and hidden in a cupboard. However, our plumber soon changed our plans as he made us aware that moving a boiler was fairly easy and low and behold – we now have a huge space for a kitchen cupboard and our boiler is now humming away quietly in our garage. Yay!
Welcome New Windows
We’ve needed new windows for a lonnnnnnng time now and though we’d planned to have them fitted a few years back, we weren’t really in a financial position to do so. We’d had one or two replaced and were slowly working our way around the house bit by bit but it couldn’t really wait any longer thus we’ve had both the front and the back of our house fitted with brand new windows and it looks and feels so much better for it.
Fathers Day
I knew Fathers Day wasn’t going to be easy this year, it’ll never be the same without my Dad though we did our best to make the most of the afternoon by spending time as a family taking a wander around the local area, we placed flowers on my Dad’s grave, we made fairy gardens with my daughter, and then we sat around the table as a family to share a Sunday lunch.
Kitchen Chaos
The kitchen is finally on order and the deposit has been paid, so with a little luck we should be ready to start boxing up our belongings, removing units and knocking down walls in three weeks time.
Stylish Sandals
Though I usually flip-flop around the house during the summer months, I needed something a little sturdier and steadier to take strolls down the shore thus treated myself to some Karimor sandals earlier this month – I just need the weather to warm up so that I wear them!
Box Set Binging
Having binge-watched the first four seasons of Workin Moms in the matter of days, I couldn’t wait for the fifth season to be released in the UK. Once again I got through the entire season in less than a day and it was well worth the wait.
Light It Up
Having built the summerhouse earlier last month, Paul completed the look by adding a bit of sparkle in the form of solar powered LED lights. Our garden now looks a lot like Christmas, only all all year round and I love it! He’s also fitted lighting along the driveway should we ever get lost our way back from a night out in the future.
Get With The Beat
Josh recently returned to his weekly drum lessons and despite the year-long break, he’s picked up exactly where he left off and is doing really well. Dad would be so proud of him, he’s been busy playing along to the like of The Kinks and The Rolling Stones, he is such a talented young man!
A Taste of Normality
It’s been over a year since I last enjoyed a drink whilst sat at a bar or in a pub and a lots changed since then. This month I made a welcome return to my Mum’s local where we enjoyed a few bevvies in the sunshine together before returning back to hers for snacks and a catch up.
