So here we are at the end of another month, is it just me or is this year flying by? Thankfully the summer holidays have now arrived offering us a six-week welcome break from the rigmarole of the regular routine, thus we’ve been busy catching up with ourselves whilst juggling renovation work. It has most certainly been a busy, busy month, here are a few of the many things that I have #LikedandLoved throughout July.
A Dainty Dresser
I foolishly purchased a second-hand, upcycled shabby-chic dresser last year which had been painted in grey and at the time seemed to suit my preferences perfectly. Less than six months later I was finding myself having to vacuum peeled paint on my carpet and I very quickly came to realise that my purchase had been more shabby than chic.
Earlier this month I decided to replace my peeling, painted shabby old dresser with a bright white smaller vanity table featuring Hollywood-style lighting and I must say I LOVE IT!
Lazing on Lilos
It’s been two years since we last travelled abroad thanks to covid, thus we’ve installed a hot tub and have been enjoying what feels like a holiday at home. Whilst scouring eBay for the latest summer deals I spotted two hammock-style lilos priced at only £4 each and who was I to argue? Never mind the expensive hydrotherapy jets, were now more than happy simply bobbing around in our hammocks…
Light At The End of the Tunnel
Following a burst water main outside my Mum’s property, both her house and her holiday let were badly flooded and it’s taken a lengthy six months to complete the repair work required in order to restore her properties to their former glory. Though it’s felt like a never-ending uphill struggle for both Mum and I, this week marked the completion of the work and AT LAST her house is back to normal. I say normal, it’s actually rather different from what it once was as both J & E now have their own rooms each painted in colours of their choice.
That’s the Ticket!
There’s nothing like the announcement of a Tori tour to get me in a panic, especially when I came to realise that the tickets were going for sale at 10 am on a workday and I would be unable to be sat with my mobile and laptop at hand ready to click ‘buy’. Thankfully my husband very kindly came to the rescue and we now have two tickets fairly close to the front, and though it’s not till March next year I’m already excited.
The Kitchen Chaos Has Commenced
As school came to a close for the year, so did my suitcase as we’ve been busy packing our things to take to my Mums whilst our kitchen finally gets ripped out and replaced. Though I promised I’d stay away, I couldn’t help but nip back for a little sneak peek at what the builders have been busy doing and boy was I impressed with their efforts so far. Though I suspect it’ll be at least a fortnight before we can consider packing up to return home but I’m sure it’ll be worth the wait.
Doubled Stabbed & Jabbed
Though Paul and I had originally planned on having our second vaccinations in mid-August, we were told that due to the recent surge in covid cases we would be able to bring this date forward. As a result, we have now been ‘double stabbed and double jabbed’ which I’m hoping should keep us a little safer.
The Summer Holidays Are Finally Here
At last, the holidays have finally arrived! It’s most definitely been an odd year for the kids what with not one but two bouts of ‘homeschooling’ due to the lockdowns, I think we are all in need of a six-week break, I certainly am grateful for a break from the regular routine.
It So Almost Came Home
Football so almost came home, it was the closest England have ever come to winning the Euros at least and I for one am incredibly proud of our men and our team for the hope and joy that they raised during what has been an incredibly difficult time for not only our country but the World.
From Car Seat To A Booster
Blink and you’ll miss it – at least this is how it feels when you are a parent. One moment your kids are teeny tiny and the next they are standing taller than you… Time seems to pass in the blink of an eye and the milestones (no matter how big or small) seem to fly by. Though many milestones seem to pass unnoticed, there are a few that are more obvious as they involve the purchasing or passing on of various equipment. This month we replaced E’s larger, chunky car seat with a simple booster and just like that car seats are no longer needed in either of our cars… Where does the time go?
Hello Heatwave
Though the weather’s changed a little over the past few days, we’ve spent the past fortnight basking in a heatwave as the UK saw temperatures of thirty degree’s Celsius and over. Though I’d have liked for it to last a little longer, I rather enjoyed days spent lazing in the sunshine whilst the kids splashed around outside. I must say it’s a little relief to have the cooler breeze now though it would be nice to see the sunshine return.
