To say that February is a short month, we’ve sure as heck packed plenty into it. Here are some of the things that I have #LikedandLoved this month.
Valentine’s Day
Unlike most couples that celebrate Valentine’s Day on the fourteenth day of February, my husband and I choose to celebrate a day earlier (on 13th February) as this marks the day that we had our first date and became a couple. We, therefore, tend to swap cards on the 13th February rather than the 14th, though will often celebrate over two days rather than just the one which is rather nice.
In the past, we’d often spend the evening at our favourite pub/ bistro enjoying a three-course meal and drinks for two, though this year my husband took to our new kitchen, donned an apron and threw together the most delicious steak dinner followed by a beautiful dessert for us all.
Seventeen Years Together
My husband and I celebrated seventeen years of being together this month. It doesn’t feel like seventeen years since we first went to the cinema together for that first nerve-wracking date yet here we are two houses, two dogs, two children, however many cars and however many jobs down the line together.
Blackpool Bound
Though we were battered by an array of storms throughout the February half-term holidays, my husband and I decided to brave the rather wet, wild and windy motorway to take the kids to Blackpool for an afternoon swimming at the Sandcastle Waterpark. It’s been years (thanks to covid) since the kids have been to a waterpark let alone swimming thus they had great fun splashing, sliding, and swimming for the day.
The Half Term Holidays
Though we didn’t have the best weather over the half-term break, we certainly made the most of our time off. Not only did we visit Blackpool but we also drove to our local swimming baths where the kids had fun playing on the inflatable obstacle course, swimming in the wave pool, and getting themselves reacquainted with the water.
Time Travel
My husband and I exchanged smartwatches as gifts for Christmas a year or so ago now and whilst my husband was perfectly happy with his FitBit, it sadly wasn’t as waterproof as had been stated in the specifications and said smartwatch, unfortunately, came to the end of its life following a swim earlier this month. Having contacted both Amazon and Fitbit I was able to receive a refund for this and my husband has since ordered and received a brand new series six Apple IWatch. Some things are meant to be and after purchasing brand new iPhones earlier in the year, I feel that this was one of those cases as we are both now very happy with our Apple phones and matching watches, especially since we’ve figured out how to use walkie talkie app!
Evenings Out
With it being the holidays, my husband and I asked my Mum if she’d mind having the kids overnight so that we could enjoy an evening out in town together. Though it wasn’t quite what we had expected (since we quite literally walked into a pub brawl) we still had an interesting evening out and enjoyed time together without the interruption of “Mummy? Daddy?”.
Cardigans & Winterwear
Though spring is well on the way, it’s still pretty nippy out there and I for one wouldn’t dream of leaving the house without at least three layers for good measure. I recently ordered two new cardigans which have since arrived and I am practically living in them as they are so chunky, warm, and comfortable to wear with almost anything. Though my wardrobe is practically bursting at the seams, I’m tempted to buy some more…
Fun & Floaty Dresses
Though I’m sick and tired of my figure and I would love to feel comfortable and confident wearing something other than jeggings, leggings and floaty tops/ dresses, I’m rather pleased with these three new dresses that I recently purchased online. Not only do I think they look pretty good but they feel super cosy and comfortable to wear especially with a pair of fluffy Ugg boots during this cold winter snap.
Cushions & Covers
Whilst I’d intended to paint, wallpaper, and decorate my living room by now, that hasn’t materialised as of yet. I have however ordered and received four brand new cushions and cushion covers to go on what will be a new sofa once we’ve painted, wallpapered, and decorated the living room, stairs, and landing.
Wrapping Up Warm
Having treated myself to a new coat last month, the kids were keen to have new coats for themselves which I’ve since ordered, received and the kids are now wrapped up warm in each day on their journey to and from school.
