Welcome to my second instalment of the ‘Liked And Loved’ series which I plan to maintain on a monthly basis in an attempt to create a kind of ‘happy list’ to reflect upon the positives throughout the year.
February is technically one of the shortest months of the year yet somehow it feels like it has been never-ending. Here are some of the things I have ‘Liked and Loved’ this month.
Twelve Years Together
Paul and I celebrated twelve years together as a couple on February 13th, we had planned to go out for a meal together but the restaurant at which we usually dine wasn’t serving meals that night. With it being Valentines Day the following day we decided to combine the two and celebrate a day late.
Valentines Day
Both Paul and I spoilt each other rotten this Valentines Day, We began by exchanging the usual cards and gifts then later that evening my Mum arrived to babysit the children so that we could escape for a night out together. Should you be interested, you can read all about it here.
Fifty Shades Darker
Paul has never been and probably never will be a fan of Fifty Shades. Fair play to him, it’s not really a blokes book or a mans movie is it?
When the first film was released Paul refused to see it with me so I ended up going with my Mother to watch 50 Shades at the local cinema. We were surrounded by a gaggle of cackling women most of which were knocking back the wine whilst screaming and shrieking throughout the film.
With the second film being released I was half expecting to be having another Mother-Daughter date at the cinema but shock horror Paul actually offered and paid to take me to see the new movie. It was a fabulous night and I think I’m safe to say that we both enjoyed the film and certainly the time together.
Final Dentist Work
Finally after what seems like years in progress I completed my dental treatment plan to reduce the crowding and dental issues I was experiencing.
I have had two wisdom teeth removed, a new filling added and a polish and clean. It’s taken some time but I am hoping that future dental appointments will be check ups only.
Day Out At Soft Play
Following having bloods taken first thing one morning I was unable to take E to her usual play group session. As she had sat so patiently for a whole hour whilst we waited for my appointment I felt that she deserved a reward of sorts.
I decided to take E to the nearest soft play and bounce house where we had dinner together followed by two hours running around playing just us girls. I love spending one to one time with my kids especially when it results in a Mummy-Daughter date.
Swimming
Paul and I took the kids to the local swimming baths over half term. The kids had such great fun swimming, sliding and splashing about that before we knew it two hours had gone by and our time was up. Family days out are simply the best, I love spending time together all four of us having fun.
It wasn’t long ago that we piled into the family changing rooms and somehow squeezed into a cubicle to get changed together. These days the kids have grown up a little and we are able to use the Ladies and Mens changing facilities, Paul takes J and I take E, one each.
It’s times like these that having ‘one of each’ seems to feel so right. I know it’s not something parents can chose when having their children but having ‘one of each’ is something which I am so grateful that we were blessed with.
New Karate Kit
J has needed a new karate kit for some time now but due to tragic circumstances and massive changes at the Dojo things haven’t been entirely on track. Thankfully J’s new teacher has now found his feet and we were able to order some kit which J was thrilled to find not only did it feature the club logo but it was also personalised!
There must be something about wearing a new kit which has given J a new-found confidence in his karate. He seems to be kicking higher, punching harder and making more of a general effort which is great to see. I know Stuart (J’s late teacher) would be very proud.
Pauls New Phone
Now and then we are visited by what we refer to as ‘the Gremlins’. The Gremlins usually come in packs three to cause havoc around our house and this month they have done just that. Poor Paul found himself without phone earlier this month as he somehow smashed the screen on his Samsung S6 Edge. Whilst trying to repair said Samsung screen Paul’s hand slipped which resulted in his much-loved mobile becoming bin fodder.
Luckily after scouring the local Facebook selling pages I found a next to new Samsung S7 Edge and accessories at a good price and arranged for Paul to pick these up.
It may have cost us but it seems that the death of Paul’s previous phone was possibly meant to be as he adores his new phone which he keeps reminding me is an upgrade as it’s the top of the range… I’ll remind him of this when I feel the need for an upgrade come Autumn when Apple announce their latest releases.
New Rug
As I said the Gremlins have been reeking havoc in this household. Somehow or other whilst ironing Paul ended up scorching the living room carpet. It was entirely accidental but resulted in a rather prominent stain slap bang in the middle of our living room.
To disguise the damage we ordered a new, fluffy, caramel coloured rug which I have to say I am completely in love with. It looks amazing and seems to make the entire living room feel more cosy and complete. God knows why we didn’t buy a rug years ago but now that we have I am contemplating ordering a coffee table and a small unit to complete the look.
Lego Organisation
February has been the month for Lego loving. I spent some time organising J’s Lego into tubs and drawers which has enabled him to locate almost any piece he may need to build and complete a whole range of Lego creations.
We have also bought and built some shelves to display J’s many Lego creations and put together the whole setup has sparked a new found love for Lego and not just for J but for the entire family!
Thanks again for reading my blog and I hope that you enjoyed reading what I #LikedAndLoved in February.
If you fancy sharing some of your own #LikedAndLoved points from the month then why not join in either through your own blog post or by leaving a comment below, I would love to hear what you #LikedAndLoved this month!

Sounds like a lovely february! Love the new rug, I couldn’t be without ours in the living room… we have wooden floors which are easy to clean but not very warm and homely by themselves so our big fluffy rug fixed all that. #tuesdaytreasures
Congratulations on twelve years! That pool looks fantastic too. #tuesdaytreasures
How does a restaurant just decide it isn’t serving food that night? Anyway, Happy Anniversery. Impressive lego collection! #tuesdaytreasures
Sounds like an exciting month! I loved fifty shades darker and valentines this year! ❤ #TuesdayTreasures
Looks like you had a great February despite those gremlins. I love spending time as a family but it doesn’t always happen when you have to squash everything in to a weekend. That pool looks fab.

It sounds like you had such a busy and lovely month, congratulations on your twelve year anniversary. I have not seen any of the 50 shades films, I did read the books years ago though. We got a new rug recently too and my little ones are forever sitting and playing on it xx #LikedandLoved
