Where on earth did February go to? It may be the shortest month of the year but it barely feels as if it’s been a week since we were in January. Saying that we have done all kinds of things both in and out of the house throughout the past month, we’ve certainly been busy bees!
As always at the end of each month, I sit down and take a moment to reflect upon a few of the things which I have ‘Liked and Loved’ so without further ado here is this months effort.
I Have A New Job!
After two years of desperately trying to find a new job (ideally work within the Education sector) I finally made my lucky break, as I was offered a casual Teaching Assistant role within the local Primary School in which I have been working on a voluntary basis.
As you can imagine I am over the moon as are the kids and my husband for that matter. It’s been just over a week since I first started and I’m not sure whether it’s really sunk in as of yet. I am however loving my new life as a Teaching Assistant and hope to continue working as part of the team for the foreseeable future.
Valentines Day & 50 Shades of Grey
My husband rather spoilt me this Valentines with roses, chocolates, Lush smellies and a beautiful card. He later took me along to the cinema to watch the final instalment of the ‘Fifty Shades’ series, ‘Fifty Shades Freed‘. Whilst the film wasn’t all that, it was nice to have a night out together without the kids to kick back and relax for a few hours out of the house, that of course to be spoilt rotten.
Thirteen Years Together
Paul and I celebrated thirteen years of being together by tossing pancakes as it coincided with Shrove Tuesday and by having our beautiful nieces to stay the night for a ‘sleepover’.
Â
An Overnight Stay
As I mentioned above, earlier this month we had our nieces stay for a sleepover which both the kids and us adults thoroughly enjoyed. It was a first for E as shed never shared her room with company before now, as for J he had a sleepover with his friends before but never with his cousin.
We all had awesome amounts of fun, the kids were kept busy with baking, games, bouncy castle madness and all kinds of entertainment. All four kids and ourselves included barely made it to bedtime the following night due to utter exhaustion.
Nights Out With Friends
Whilst pulling pints behind the bar last month I came across a rather wonderful couple from Tasmania whom have since become firm friends. Along with Mike and Vicky, Paul and I have enjoyed a couple of nights out with Lisa and Patrick (our friends from down under). As a group we get along like a house on fire, the drink flows far too quickly and much fun is had more of which is planned for the near future.
Maisy Made An Appearance
After months of waiting our puppy was finally born on February 9th, we are yet to visit Maisy and of course to collect her once the time arrives but until then I have kept in close contact with the breeders and have started collecting puppy paraphernalia to prepare for the big day.
Snow Days
It’s been four years or more since we have seen ‘proper snow’, earlier this month we finally had an inch or two of the white stuff which was a first for E as she had never yet seen nor played with snow.
We have since had further snow which was enough to warrant a ‘snow day‘ rendering the kids crazy excited whilst poor Paul ran around doing his very best to work from home.
Half Term
Half term has been and gone in the blink of an eye, the children certainly seemed to enjoy their time away from School as they were entertained with all kinds of fun and games.
Wedding Dress Shopping
As you may have read a few months back, I was very kindly asked to be a Bridesmaid for my good friends Vicky and Mike who are planning to tie the knot in June 2019. Following booking and rearranging a range of appointments, we finally made it to the wedding dress shop of Vicky’s choice for a gander at the gowns. To cut a long story short, Vicky has now found the dress of her dreams with a little help or most probably hinderance from myself.
Engagement Ring Repair
A little while back I noticed that my engagement ring was starting to catch on clothing and seemed sharp to the touch. After enquiring at a number of jewellers, I was warned that the claws were damaged and that I was at risk of losing the diamond. Having found a quote which I felt comfortable with I finally had my ring sent away for repair and have since received the repaired ring which looks and feels like new!
