February is technically the shortest month in the year, yet it seemed to drag somewhat which feels a little unusual as I’m forever mentioning how time flies. We’ve certainly not stopped throughout this month, both Paul and I have run ourselves ragged trying to get as much as we possibly can done and dusted around the house and we still have plenty to work on.
Without any further waffle, here are a few of the things which I have #LikedandLoved during February.
Fourteen Years Together & Valentines Day
Having met and started dating on 13th February 2005, Paul and I have since celebrated Valentines Day twenty-four hours prior to the publicised date. This year we left it a little later than usual as both our anniversary and Valentines Day fell upon a school day, thus we waited until the weekend to celebrate. We kept things simple this year; we enjoyed a meal at the local Italian restaurant followed by several hours of cutting shapes on the dance floor at our ‘local’.
Jeans, Jumpers & Winter Wear
Having established that my wardrobe was beginning to look a little worn, I stocked up on further winter wear including jumpers, long-sleeved tops and jeans. I now have an entire drawer stacked high with jeggings, leggings and jeans and a shelf laden with wooly jumpers and cardigans galore. I may not have the perfect figure nor the perfect sense of fashion but I love wearing casual, comfy, cosy clothing at this time of year.
Let there be light!
It’s been just over two years since we had our extension built and up until now we’ve put up with a rather dim, single light in our over-sized bedroom. I was forever squinting in the mirror whilst slapping on my makeup or angling my bedside lamp whilst trying to read. It wasn’t ideal thus I finally ordered two sets of spotlights for both our bedroom and our daughters room which Paul has since fitted. No longer as we struggling in the shadows, each of the bedrooms are now bright with banks of spotlights which aren’t just bright but blinding first thing in the morning.
Piano Perfect
For years now I have put up with the Worlds wonkiest piano stool known to man, should you happen to have moved my previous piano stool its legs would buckle and you’d find yourself having to tighten screws and realign the legs just to be on the safe side. Wo betide should you have sat on my previous piano stool, it was most certainly a gamble as to whether you’d be sitting on or straddling the stool as it fell to the floor.
We finally made firewood of the rather dated and damaged piano stool, it has since been replaced with a brand new duet stool with storage. I couldn’t be happier with the results, I am now able to sit and to teach my children without worrying that they or I may end up flat on the floor. I also have a fantastic space in which to store sheet Music or sweets and secrets from the kids.
Everything Is Awesome
It had been quite some time since Paul and I had taken the kids to the cinema, we usually tend to wait and to watch most movies from the comfort of our couch. However, both J & E were desperate to watch the recently released ‘Lego Movie 2‘ and so we booked ourselves into the big screen. Both the kids and us adults really enjoyed the movie, the soundtrack from which we have had played almost daily since.
Wacky World
I clearly remember watching Gladiators as a kid and wishing I could try something similar, the challenges although seemingly impossible, looked to be such fun! We recently visited ‘Wacky World‘, a travelling inflatable assault course which reminded me very much of Gladiators, I had never seen anything like it before and both the kids and us adults had an absolute ball running around, climbing, sliding, bouncing and generally working up a sweat.
Happy 1st Birthday Maisy
Our beautiful basset hound Maisy recently turned one-year old. Although she is still technically a puppy, she’s huge! It feels like only yesterday that I was snuggling a tiny puppy quite literally the size of arm and already she’s grown into her wrinkles and what an incredible pup she is.
Panto Fun
For the past five years or so my Dad has taken part in the local Panto, this usually takes places towards the end of January, but this year it happened to fall in February. Each year the cast and crew chose a different story to depict, this year they performed ‘Dick Whittington and his Cat’ – the kids thoroughly enjoyed watching the show as did Paul, my Mum and I.
Blog Birthday
As of this month, my blog is officially three years old! It doesn’t feel like three years since I began blogging, so much has changed since back then though and whilst I still love writing, it does have its down sides, though I continue to publish posts and look forward to doing so in the future.
Bridesmaid Bonanza
Ever since being a little girl, I have always wanted to be a bridesmaid. I’ve been a bride – which was utterly amazing and the most spectacular day of my life – yet I’ve never been a bridesmaid. I was therefore hugely humbled and honoured to be asked to be a bridesmaid for my friend, who is getting married in June this year.
Earlier this month I had the chance to try on a range of bridesmaid dresses, one of which my friend chose and I am now looking forward to buying matching shoes and accessories for. I cannot wait to be her bridesmaid come June, it’s going to such a special day.
