So here we have it, the end of another month and what has been the worst year of my life thus far. I can’t say I’ll be sad to see the back of 2020 but neither am I all that excited about 2021 as I’m not entirely sure that it’s going to be all that much better…
I’ll try to steer away from being ‘Nora Neggy’ and point more towards being ‘Peggy Positive’, so without further ado here a few of the things which I have #LikedandLoved through December.
Advent & The Return of Rocko the Elf
December marked the beginning of advent and the countdown to Christmas. As always, Rocko, our resident elf arrived to cause chaos for the following twenty-four days, along with an advent calendar for the kids each.
Decking Out The Decorations
Given that it’s been a horrendous and heartbreaking year for us all, I decided to brighten the house up and to ‘go bigger than big’ this Christmas with some brand new decorations, including a 7ft 6 Christmas tree, an outdoor reindeer which is taller than I am, and some brand new baubles, lights and bead strings for the garland and the tree.
Family Fun & Games
Christmas isn’t Christmas without playing some games around the table – we’ve played Hungry Hippos, Bingo, Herd Mentality, and Mysterium to name a few of the many board games we’ve had out. We’ve also enjoyed a fair few hours racing against each other on Mario Kart.
Festive Food & Get-Togethers
I swear I’ve gained at least a stone in weight this month – from seasonal snacks to festive tuck boxes and family roasts, we’ve not stopped noshing the festive food and it’s been quite the comfort this Christmas.
The Big Unwrap
The kids were spoilt rotten this Christmas and as a result, they took almost three hours in total to complete ‘the big unwrap’. They were given bikes, scooters, toys, books, smellies, films, games, you name it – they got it!
A New Desk
Though we already had a desk with a filing drawer – it was pine and didn’t suit the room nor our needs thus I dished out the dollars this month and treated us all to a brand new desk for the office.
Real Heels
Having cleared my cupboards, I found quite a few pairs of shoes which I no longer wear which I then wanged in the bin. I felt quite accomplished at my clear out but then discovered that my beloved ‘Fly London’ heels had sadly developed a crack in the cork and were no longer safe to strut about in… It’s fine flinging old flip flops and battered boots in the bin but my heels are another matter.
Thankfully I’ve replaced my Fly London heels with some brand new Clarks ‘tie-dye’ sandal wedges for the summer.
Getting with the times with my new iWatch
Not only were the kids super spoilt this Christmas but so was I – Paul very kindly gave me this beautiful iWatch and having spent the past week getting used to wearing and using my new Apple device, I couldn’t be without it!
Clearing the Clutter
I’ve spent the past few days clearing the house of clutter – the kid’s cupboards, drawers, and wardrobes have now been emptied and sorted, resulting in huge piles of outgrown clothes, toys, and books that I’ve now sorted into bags for hand-me-downs and charity.
I’ve since replaced the outgrown tops, pants, leggings, vests, tights, jeans, shoes, boots, and all the rest of it thanks to the boxing day sales online.
Holidays at Home
Though most people are sick of being stuck inside, I am quite happy and content keeping warm, safe, and snuggled at home with the hubby and the kids. I rather enjoy holidays without having to pack suitcases or worry about the eight loads of laundry following a week away, I’m a creature of habit and I like my home comforts so holidays at home are right up my street.
