With Christmas gone and the New Year moments away I thought I ought to take a little look back at December and to list a few of the things that I have ‘Liked and Loved‘.
The Christmas Show
With it being E’s first year at School I had the chance to view both of my beauties in this years Christmas show and what fabulous acts they were! E looked adorable in her camel outfit, J looked awesome is his dog attire and put together they both rocked my socks off.
Given that the in-laws no longer have a shop to sort on Christmas Eve Paul and I decided to change things around a little this year. As we had no specific plans we decided to throw some food together for the family then take the kids out along to the local Christingle service where they were each given a Christingle orange to carry and to hold whilst we sang carols and made ourselves feel festive ready for the big day.
As I said above Paul and I decided to mix things up a little when it came to Christmas Eve this year. Whilst we were expecting for the day to be fairly relaxed we ended up busy as could be and actually I loved it all the more. We were surrounded by family and friends all of which is precisely how it should be.
Christmas Day was quite simply fantastic this year, we spent the morning with the kids watching them scream and shout with glee as they unwrapped and opened their parcels. The in-laws then came over to see us all before we headed off to my folks for dinner and to open yet more presents.
Everybody seemed to eat, enjoy and to be merry, that and collapse all cosy and warm in front of the television once we were sufficiently stuffed and surprised.
We Are Back On The Road!
Having spent the past few weeks ‘without a car’ we’ve finally managed to get our motor fixed thanks to my Dad and our mechanic Mike. I have to say I’ve really struggled with only having one car on the drive, it’s certainly made our life challenging to say the least, thankfully we are now back on the road and I’m hoping we can keep our little Fiesta roadworthy for a few more years before we need to consider replacing her yes her!
As it’s Christmas I’ve spent a fair amount of time mixing, rolling and baking batches of goodies for the kids and us adults to enjoy over the festive period. As always I also threw together Delia’s special ‘Squidgy Chocolate Log’ as it wouldn’t be Christmas otherwise!
Christmas Parties & Celebrations
In the run up to Christmas the children have each partaken in Christmas parties, carol services and such-like to celebrate the festive period within School. I’ve rather enjoyed watching them get ready for and take part within all the celebrations, it’s lovely to see our little ones socialising and getting into the seasonal spirit.
Santa Came By
Each year we are visited by Santa on his sleigh as he collects charity donations for the local inshore rescue service. The kids as always were delighted to see the man as he dropped by our house earlier this month.
With it being Christmas we’ve squeezed in plentiful amounts of time with family and friends all of which we have hugely enjoyed. It’s great to see and to catch up with our family at this time of year and of course to share a few bevvies and to beat them at board games!
New Years Eve
Paul and I aren’t planning anything particular this New Year, with us being parents the kids are our priority, that and I’d much prefer to swig Baileys whilst snuggled warm and comfortable under a blanket rather than dancing around the local lamp-post half-frozen to die from frost bite and the inevitable hangover the following morning.
